Greenlight is a fintech company that makes a debit card for kids and companion apps for the family. We proudly serve more than 4 million parents and kids, with in-app tools for sending money, setting savings goals, monitoring balances, managing chores, automating allowance, and investing.

But that’s not all that we do. Here at Greenlight, we are on a mission to support parents and help every kid grow up to be financially healthy and happy. It’s no small task, but it’s the reason we leap out of bed every morning to come to work. Because creating a better, brighter future for kids depends on it.

We are looking for a strong collaborator on our Product Research team with the analytical skills to simplify complex problems and the natural curiosity to explore and determine which problems need to be solved. Working alongside Product Management teams, key stakeholders and analysts across the business, you will use data to drive our approach in understanding and making sense of the market, our customers, and our business. Working with stakeholders, you’ll help craft and structure the data needed to identify patterns, derive insights, and spot trends that will drive better business decisions.

You should have a strong understanding of current analytical techniques, with experience in parsing operational and usage data, and crafting a coherent narrative through modern visualization tools. You’ll be expected to approach work with a solid grasp of statistics, including statistical tests and distributions. Familiarity with the potential for applying advanced techniques like machine learning, deep learning and text analytics is a plus.

The perfect opportunity for an individual passionate about data, the ideal candidate will have a drive to break problems down quickly and identify trends in our data to enable rapid decision making. Pushing the business forward as we grow requires a candidate that can develop creative solutions to making sense of our business, and who has the ability to effectively communicate the impact of your work.

What you will be doing:

  • Dig deep, mine our data - Dive into internal consumer data, developing predictive modeling techniques to speed up decision making and work with Product teams to move key business metrics
  • Adapt, solve problems - Make connections between data that might seem unrelated, and think creatively. Use your skills to clearly explain your findings
  • Communicate - Explain the importance of patterns in the data, and suggest solutions. Use your visual, oral, and written communication skills to deliver insights about complex problems
  • Bridge gaps between the data and the business -Work with the product team to create an action on insights, using data to justify work and demonstrate the results of the team.

What you should bring:

  • You have 4+ years of analytical experience working with and across large datasets, delivering actionable insights to business stakeholders and leaders. Experience working with mobile app usage data and/or in the payments industry preferred
  • You have exceptional mathematical skills, applying a critical eye to the approach in understanding our data. You aren’t fooled by randomness or regressions to the mean, and recognize assumptions that need to be explicitly controlled for. Experience in machine learning, and statistical and predictive modeling a plus
  • You are insatiably curious about our data, have strong statistical intuition, and have a proven track record for leveraging analytics to drive significant business impact
  • You have experience with cleaning, transforming, modeling and analysis using R, Python, SAS or Matlab
  • You have 2+ years of Tableau Desktop experience, have excellent data visualization skills and are familiar with best-in-class dashboarding techniques
  • You have hands-on experience with SQL, and possess advanced skills that allow you to easily extract data from multiple data sources for analysis and visualization.
  • You have enterprise data warehousing experience, preferably with Snowflake or other cloud-based solutions, and are familiar with modeling and ETL/ELT best practices
  • Working cross-functionally is a way of life for you. You thrive in environments where you must bring different disciplines and points of view together and balance competing priorities and deadlines
  • You act. You know how to make things happen and figure out workarounds when the team hits roadblocks. You anticipate and plan for potential major problems
  • You have an ownership mentality and have a high level of accountability
  • You are a creative and scrappy problem solver
  • Above all, you are bright and goal-oriented
