Job Description
The Workplace Activity Data Utility ('WADU') is a program which is part of the Chief Administration Office's Strategic Initiatives organization ('CSI'). CSI includes a portfolio of cross-Line Of Business initiatives supporting the Global Operations agenda of the Firm. WADU (Workplace Activity Data Utility) is at the forefront of data driven decision making and is focused on building out a new firm-wide capability that unlocks the potential of our Workplace Activity data to enhance our strategic and investment decisions.
The WADU (Workplace Activity Data Utility) Data team is fundamental to its success. The team's role is to ensure the accuracy of data. We understand the critical need to represent these numbers with integrity and confidence to tell an unbiased story. As a team we are responsible for the end to end data journey, from sourcing of new data feeds, ingestion, data quality assurance and coming up with creative solutions to streamline and improve at every step. We also are critical in determining the usability of data and how it relates to client driven use cases.
Within the WADU (Workplace Activity Data Utility) Data team we are looking for a Controls Lead. The candidate will be aware of Data Privacy controls, GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), and industry best practices. You will work with a cross functional team of legal, compliance and technology individuals to present and hold our work to account. You will help manage new product offerings from inception until product release making sure they fit within the scope that is provided to us. The ideal candidate should be self-driven and results oriented with proven experience presenting to senior leaders and handling work-streams simultaneously. You will hold a unique position that supports the team's overall strategy.

We are looking for an energetic candidate, that has prior experience in the Financial Services industry and /or Data programs.
Job Responsibilities

  • Create a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols, Working proactively with the team to maintain, enhance and develop an effective control environment and supervisory program.
  • Collaborating with business and other control functions to gather information and review responses to regulatory examinations, audits, investigations, inquiries, and other information requests. Develop effective presentations & program update material suitable for stakeholders & business partners and communicate overall program progress and recommendations/decisions
  • Provide leadership support for the end-to-end execution of the Risk & Control Self-Assessment, including control breaks and resolutions, to reduce financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk, Engage with control colleagues across the firm, business, operations management, legal, compliance, risk, audit, regulators and technology control functions
  • Experience in financial services industry with background in controls, audit, quality assurance, operational risk management, or compliance preferred; or equivalent subject matter expertise in a relevant business related function/operation
  • Managing projects, keeping all parties informed, and delivering within schedule. Build relationship with stakeholders like Corporate Technology and Data Science partners and own streams of the delivery plan.
  • Ability to summarize arguments into specific deliverables. Partners with our client engagement teams to ensure our end users are getting the maximum value out of our analytics and insights.
  • Collaborating with a diverse team around the globe, Understand that good data is foundational, Evaluate current user cases, conduct gap analysis and identify opportunities for future product development.


Required qualifications, skills and capabilities

  • Self-starter with ability to manage own workload and deliverables.
  • 3+ years in a Data related role, or in a Project Management role.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to structure and scope complex problems;
  • A passion for data, data skills, and data tools.
  • Inter-personal skills with ability to forge relationships with key stakeholders including technology partners.
  • Excellent oral and written executive-level communication and presentation skills.
  • Effective organizational and project management skills.


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Team-oriented nature with clear ownership mentality.
  • Keen interest in various aspect of data
  • Great if you have experience around data tools like SQL, Alteryx, Excel, Tableau, QlikView.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently across multiple aspects of the organization at all levels; confidence in communicating with management
