The Role: 

The Portfolio Product Leader will lead our company strategy, combining general management expertise overseeing the revenue and margin of a SaaS/content product line in a product-first organization with that of a skilled software-product builder optimizing for the user experience. Your role will encompass understanding the market segment and needs, building business cases, and defining and beating goals and KPIs. You will be working with various teams to develop an end-to-end revenue-oriented product strategy and commercialization roadmap and cross-functionally lead the execution. Overseeing our primary product lines, you will be accountable to achieving our product goals. You will also be tasked with planning, communicating and executing the strategy to grow the next phase of our business for this product line.

You’ll be leveraging expertise in business strategy and/or management consulting to help our team achieve pipeline and revenue targets; and you will get to work with a cross-functional team beyond sales to catapult Newsela’s growth help accelerate our business growth. 

Why We’ll Love You: 

Your experience in strategy lends itself to a track record of understanding buyer needs and you can effectively target those needs and create a quality software/content product, working with cross-functional partners to put that strategy in place and close sales. You have successfully designed and executed on a business plan, worked with executives across teams to get buy-in, and have a strong ability to project and forecast growth sales throughout the sales process (experience in edtech or K-12 education would be a plus). You have technical chops and are deeply versed in the process of building SaaS products to enable your swift prioritization and trade-off decisions, while understanding the cost impact. You are continuously seeking to strengthen your knowledge of your market segment, and have a demonstrated ability to take real-time market data to iterate and drive improvements across the business. In addition to your sales, business, product strategy expertise, you have marketing acumen (as you’ll be partnering with our marketing team) and have a demonstrated ability to lead teams, meetings, and process to decision/action without formal authority or direct reporting lines.
