DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will be responsible for learning the current business processes, capturing the purposes (reasons why), helping to define and execute the long-term vision for Customer 2.0 scope including Customer Delivery, Standing Spotting, Escalations, and Field Exceptions, etc. while staying aligned with other 2.0 Modernization efforts. Position will work closely with BNSF employees (both business and technical) and contractors across various domains within TS and related to primary business partners within Customer Support.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and provide leadership in the initiation of new projects, analyzing and coming up with design, convey this information to the dependent agile teams, follow initiatives throughout their development cycle, and keep the business partners updated
  • Collaborate directly with business partners, product management and agile development team to provide vision, decisions, acceptance of modern solutions while keeping focused on the technology direction to lift and shift functionality off the mainframe
  • Identify, monitor and manage project/program risks and issues in a timely and unbiased manner; follow governance standards for escalating to right levels at the right time
  • Support transparent reporting and metrics on project health (scope, schedule and budget), and support communications related to project delivery process
  • Collaborate with other functions (communities of practices) to ensure consistency, compliance and best practices
  • Drive projects from both a tactical and strategic perspective, and work with other project teams to manage interdependencies
  • Partner with solution architect to provide direction mentor developers and testers on system component requirements and documents
  • Create, prioritize, manage feature and story backlogs in preparation for program increment planning and to drive agile team research and development work
  • Pullout business rules from mainframe de-comped code to build and promote architecture views, present it in a way that is understandable to the development team and clearly define user stories
  • Work with Experience Design team to define vision for prototyping modern solutions
  • Influence and develop status reports, estimates, roadmaps, define features, and recommend automated testing scenarios across multiple initiatives
  • Emphasis placed on leadership, product management, and data analysis abilities


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree with preference in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or a related discipline or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 7-12+ years of experience in Transportation industry/railroad, combined Agile and Waterfall delivery, Business Analysis (or related) functions, with accountability for leading requirements and process modelling activities
  • Proven record of leading and influencing team members in a matrix organization, and ability to identify and resolve project risks and issues effectively
  • Proficient in utilizing productivity/collaboration tools (such as Microsoft Office and Microsoft SharePoint)
  • Highly proficient in requirement gathering and documentation and business process modeling
  • Ability to support enterprise-wide solutions and platforms
  • Focused ability to influence the design and architecture of multiple, highly integrated and complex systems
  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience with DevOps, continuous integration and deployment
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex scenarios to others with varying levels of expertise throughout the organization


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Agile experience and strong facilitation skills
  • Experience using Planview and/or Agility (formally VersionOne)
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and queries such as SQL
  • Knowledge of modern GIS and Aris tools
