At Shelf Engine, our mission is to reduce food waste through automation. We harness the power of AI to provide real-time, intelligent forecasting and fully automated ordering to food retailers across the United States. We’re able to drastically reduce the amount of food waste generated while simultaneously maximizing sales and expanding margins for grocers—a triple win for suppliers and retailers, consumers, and the environment.

Shelf Engine is searching for a talented Head of Product to join our growing team. In this role, you will work with multiple teams across functions to lead the design of the Shelf Engine product offering, understand and research customer demand and food waste sources, and marry that understanding with the development of technical capabilities and product design of the Shelf Engine system. The goal is to help Shelf Engine build products that stop food waste across the food supply chain. You’ll accomplish this by building, developing, and leading product focused team members.

This position is based in Seattle, WA.

As a Head of Product at Shelf Engine, you will:

  • Work with C-level executives to define strategy of the Shelf Engine product vision
  • Execute the strategy on a day to day level, such as our focus on expanding into new food categories and food supply chain, implementing new customer facing tools and experiences, and new business lines as needs dictate
  • Work closely with engineering and data science leadership, as well as the commercial business side of Shelf to build a roadmap for product development
  • Lead and develop a team of product managers and designers who work on all aspects of the Shelf Engine system

What we are looking for in a candidate:

  • You embrace our company principles: make the first move, make better decisions, be furiously curious, commit and deliver, have empathy, invent solutions, be authentic
  • 8-10+ years of software product management experience, including 3+ years direct people management experience
  • An appetite for ambiguity and complexity, and a strong desire to address the meaty problem (pun intended) of food waste
  • Experience in building enterprise software, with an understanding of how complex software systems are built, how customer requirements can be gathered for these systems, and how custom sales cycles occur
  • Experience working closely with software engineering teams to build software products
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer

What Shelf Engine offers you:

  • A unique opportunity to join a fast-growing sustainability startup early on, making a meaningful impact on the team as well as the environment
  • An inclusive work environment that emphasizes each team member’s personal and professional growth
  • Pre-IPO equity with a four-year vesting schedule
  • PTO that is unlimited and self-managed for full-time employees
  • 100% employer-paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees, and 50% covered for eligible dependents
  • Coverage for life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and access to a robust Employee Assistance Program
  • Optional employee contribution of pre-tax dollars to medical and dependent care FSA accounts
  • 401k plan through Guideline to contribute to your financial future
  • Seattle only: Company-paid ORCA transit card

Please note, employees will need to provide proof of vaccination in order to access any of our offices or to attend company events.
