Join FNBO's bend by fnbo team to help us revolutionize consumer payments by creating a digital credit card services business. This business will deliver the speed and agility that digital-first fintech's and API-driven brands need to drive loyalty and value through card payments.

Our Credit Card-as-a-Service ("bend by fnbo") platform is led by technology and being built with a product mindset; shifting away from how legacy card issuers work today. This journey to create something new and innovative needs an individual to join our team who can embrace a start-up mentality, work alongside a high-functioning team and commit to exceeding expectations.

Bend by fnbo is looking for a highly motivated, passionate, self-driven individual that loves creating desirable, simple, and powerful products that can transform the way a financial institution does business with digital brand partners. We are building a cloud native Credit Card as a Service API platform that offers best in class digitally native experiences with features & functions that matter to our customers. The bend by fnbo team operates with a customer-led, API First, and product-centered approach working "outside-in" to ensure we are focused on meeting the customers' needs up front. This means, we obsess over delivering high value experiences for customers and users at each step of their journey.

To that end, we are seeking a Head of Product who is a proven product leader and experienced in the full product development lifecycle. This role will be instrumental in helping grow and mature a product management culture, evangelize the product mission, and enhance the definition and create growth of the product in its market.

Role Description:

The Head of Product is the primary driver of the group's vision and strategy; overseeing the development and management of the product's roadmap based on the adopted strategies and vision. This position will also be responsible for using proven product development practices to innovate and evolve the bend by fnbo Product in support of our mission to provide embeddable credit card experiences and will serve as a leader and mentor to other product managers.

Role Responsibilities

  • Leadership Role: The Head of Product Management oversees the product management team and includes coaching and mentoring of all levels of product managers. The Head of Product Management constantly ensures that the functions of these positions are properly and effectively being executed.


  • Innovation: The Head of Product Management is responsible for defining the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, identifying KPIs, and ensuring innovative and financially sound product improvements. The position is also tasked with overseeing the innovation and improvement of the business's product as well as the day-to-day product activities in such a way that ensures that the product is constantly growing to suit the consumers' needs. The Head of Product Management further ensures that necessary steps are being taken to make any modifications that are being made in the product or strategy to bring out the best results for the business.
    • In this capacity, the Head of Product Management is essentially responsible for identifying opportunities that lead to the growth of the product through innovation while still maintaining the fundamental business goals/priorities.


  • Product/Market Evaluation: The Head of Product Management is also responsible for spearheading investigation and analyses on the product and the product market. The Head of Product Management is then expected to process this information, identify opportunities, and present these to the Director of Product Management for initial validation and testing.
    • This information ultimately serves to influence the business's product strategy and ensures that the business makes informed and beneficial decisions when presented to the Director of Product Management and subsequently to the stakeholders.


  • Problem Resolution: The Head of Product Management, due to your experience, is additionally tasked with the identification of issues in the strategies developed by the junior product management. Apart from identification, it is their responsibility to resolve these strategic issues, which potentially impair the whole department's ability to meet the product's financial, strategic, and technical goals.


  • Collaboration: As mentioned, the position of Head of Product Management is of cross-functional nature and this implies a high level of collaboration with different departments and different levels. The Head of Product Management partners up with other product departmental leaders in order to align and execute product strategies and ensure that each department receives the right level of support due from its colleagues.
    • The Head of Product Management also works very closely with the engineering department, design, sales, marketing, and other departments to deliver the business's product into the market.


  • Recruitment: The Head of Product Management also plays a pivotal role in the recruitment of new personnel of the product management department. The role is primarily played by the Senior Product Manager. However, the Head of Product Management is required to approve the candidates forwarded by the Senior Product Management after interviews have been conducted and suitable individuals shortlisted.
    • This person acts in managing and providing guidance to these personnel to ensure achievement of the product's vision and strategy.


Desired Qualifications:

  • 10-12 years of experience in product management leadership
  • Understanding of API Products and technologies
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to move your peers as well as your team and have them follow a common vision.
  • Great leadership should further be coupled with excellent people skills. People skills are what will make people want to follow a leader and readily and happily apply their directives; hence improving the cohesion and functionality of the Product Management department.
  • Demonstrates experience working on cross-functional teams, building and launching products in an agile product development environment
  • Ability to define and articulate a vision and strategy that solves customer problems and drives business outcomes
  • Core product execution skills such as managing scope, working with partners, creating milestones and roadmaps, and breaking work down into user stories and requirements
  • Endlessly curious in how emerging digital trends can translate into best-in-class customer experience through digital channels
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent in working experience
  • Excellent communication skills are a must for this position. The position is a supervisory position and communication must be effective down the line to ensure the proper execution of the roles/functions in all junior positions.
  • High level of analytical and quantitative skills. This person should possess the ability to use information/data and various metrics to develop an informed and factual business case.
  • Strong financial analytical capabilities that are used to further develop informed product strategies, which subsequently improves product performance.
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Fundamental understanding and experience in:
    • API-first methodology
    • Capability mapping and decomposition of functions/features
    • Data scoping and data requirements gathering
    • API Portfolio and vendor management
    • Conducting product discovery and definition workshops
    • Capturing and defining personas and writing user stories
    • Writing jobs to be done for users and stakeholders
    • Customer facing interactions
    • Evolving variations of customer-led use cases to help support the definition of future functionality that improves upon the bend by fnbo product suite
    • Working with highly skilled technical resources that build software and services products
