As the Appcues Growth Product Manager, you will have a unique opportunity to lead a new product team that will drive our business's growth across the entire product. Appcues is a platform that empowers thousands of SaaS companies to design beautiful in-app experiences that influence their user's behavior -- without writing any code. Companies like Twilio, Segment, Lyft, Profitwell, and Amplitude embed Appcues to improve their product's UX and grow their business. 

About the team

  • The growth team's mission is to grow Appcues' business by implementing product-led strategies that drive business outcomes, including user acquisition, expansion revenue, and conversion. 
  • This team will be responsible for pricing and billing, in-app upgrades, self-service checkout, plan management, product analytics, and other growth-impacting initiatives.
  • The growth team will include you, a designer, and two full-stack engineers, with plans to grow the team aggressively in the future. 
  • Product & engineering currently has 35 people organized into six empowered product teams. 
  • Each cross-functional team includes a designer, tech lead, engineers, QA, and a seasoned engineering manager. We practice agile development with two-week iterations and incrementally develop, test, and release new value behind feature flags. 

About this role

  • You will advance your team's mission by researching, defining, and prioritizing problems to solve. Through written problem briefs, you will narrow focus and determine successful outcomes.
  • You will collaborate with your team's tech lead and designer to discover solutions to your problem briefs and assess the four big risks. 
  • To know if you have achieved successful outcomes, you'll identify supporting baselines, metrics and track results over time.
  • You will work closely with the other Appcues product managers to resolve conflicting goals, gain buy-in, and appropriately sequence solutions.
  • You'll partner with product marketing to ask: "How will customers and internal teams discover and build a habit around this capability?" Together you'll devise a plan to support its adoption and the business results we expect. 
  • You'll work with executive, product, marketing, and sales teams to launch and operationalize pricing and self-serve purchasing initiatives.
  • You will align your team's strategy with company objectives. Working with our other product managers, you will ensure your strategy enhances cohesion throughout the product.
  • You will report directly to our VP of product and engineering, Chris Brookins. Your peers on Chris' team include the other product managers, engineering managers, and our design lead.

About you

  • You can work between 9-5 Eastern Time. We are a 100% remote-1st company so you can work from anywhere in North or South America.
  • You have 4-6 years of product management experience with SaaS products and at least two years doing so for B2B customers.
  • You move fast and methodically. You'll prioritize new experiments, make thoughtful, data-informed decisions, share what you learn, and do more of what works. You remove unnecessary constraints or requirements and prefer to keep things simple, start small, learn and iterate.
  • You seek facts and objective observation and don't rely on intuition. You strive to build experiments to prove hypotheses with data. By listening to customers, asking questions, and reviewing metrics, you can recognize genuine insights. 
  • You have experience with pricing strategies, product analytics experimentation frameworks, and financial modeling.
  • You know that when weighing trade-offs, the best growth initiatives improve the business while also improving the overall customer experience.
  • You are a natural collaborator that inspires and influences others to believe in the value of an idea. As the leader of a new team at Appcues, you'll ensure your teammates understand the impact of their work. Most importantly, you'll actively listen to colleagues and leverage their expertise to understand their objectives and concerns. 
  • You are an empathetic and outstanding communicator, both verbally and in writing. You're able to take complex subjects, synthesize learnings and trade-offs, and succinctly communicate them to align people to a common goal.
  • You have a technical background. While you don't need to be an engineer, you understand how the web works and are comfortable with APIs and data models. 
  • You've had experience working with cross-functional product teams, ideally in a remote, agile environment.
  • You are thoughtful, organized, disciplined, and get things done. You don't believe any solution is complete until you have achieved successful outcomes and metrics.
