As a Technology Product Director and Leader in the Utilization Management space, you are responsible for the strategic and tactical planning of development necessary to meet the business needs within Medical Management which aims to improve the efficiency, cost and outcomes of providing efficient utilization management and oversight. The result will improve the experience of UnitedHealth Groups internal UM users, partnering providers and most importantly, our members. As the key liaison between the business and technical teams, your analysis, documentation and communication skills are critical to exceeding your customer expectations and establishing and driving the product road map.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the full product lifecycle management, including: strategy, design, development, management and end of life of new, existing or acquisition products
  • Leverage market insights to understand market/customer needs to identify new opportunities or make adjustments to current product offerings
  • Accountable for delivering product performance against expectations and updates changes to a product portfolio to improve competitive position, and optimal product performance to meet customer and market needs
  • Assesses and interprets customer needs and requirements
  • Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems
  • Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses
  • Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks
  • Provides explanations and information to others on difficult issues
  • Coaches, provides feedback, and guides others
  • Acts as a resource for others with less experience
  • Generally work is self-directed and not prescribed
  • Works with less structured, more complex issues

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of IT Product experience
  • 5+ years of product management experience within a payer or provider practice with an emphasis on Utilization Management
  • 2+ years of Medical management and/or clinical healthcare expertise
  • Demonstrated to be a thought leader with an eye on the industry and knowledge of problems in the UM space
  • Product delivery in large scale Agile environment using SaFE or LeSS frameworks
  • Demonstrated expert ability to clearly articulate problems
  • Demonstrated excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in eliciting, gathering, and documenting requirements
  • Proven ability to translate information into well-defined Business Process Models and Workflow Diagrams

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only : The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut and/or Nevada residents is $110,200 to $211,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
