Primary Responsibilities:
Product Leadership

  • Own the product vision, strategy, go-to-market plan, and roadmap for the Specialty Guidance Program's technology portfolio
  • Gain a deep and personal knowledge of user personas, customers, and insurance product segments impacted by our utilization management solutions
  • Serve as the "Product Coach in Residence" for the broader team, providing guidance to technical product owners
  • Work with other leaders to contribute to a cohesive product community united by agile methodology and best practice
  • Evangelize the Specialty Guidance Program capabilities throughout the company, looking for new feature opportunities and synergies across the Optum Technology ecosystem


Opportunity Definition

  • Leverage market insights, user feedback, and research to inform the long-term product vision
  • Discover and define high-value requirements, a compelling business case, priority and impact
  • Ensure the right problems are being solved to meet customer needs
  • Identify efficiency and customer speed to market opportunities across delivery organizations that could better serve the customer's holistic needs
  • Partner with engineering leadership and finance to estimate new work, quantify benefit hypotheses, plan capacity, and manage budget


Stakeholder Management

  • Balance business priorities with technology enablers to maximize the value of our platform while minimizing technical debt
  • Manage and represent stakeholders across Optum's many businesses, clients, and technology teams

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience leading technical product strategy, including product definition, build, and implementation
  • 7+ years of experience managing teams tasked with healthcare benefit delivery and oversight
  • 7+ years of experience being an advocate for engineering teams as the liaison between the teams, leadership, and stakeholders
  • 5+ years of technical product and business and/or systems analysis in a product organization
  • 5+ years of experience with requirements definition and writing technical user stories with acceptance criteria that reflect business, functional, security, and quality expectations
  • 5+ years of experience working with scrum teams in an agile environment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business administration, computer science, healthcare, or the life sciences
  • Subject matter expertise in utilization management and/or specialty pharmacy
  • Experience in the design and measurement of KPIs for an enterprise software platform
  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically, with a positive outlook and willingness to take personal initiatives
  • High attention to detail, including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $113,500 to $218,100. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $113,500 to $218,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
