Job Details

We live in a digitally connected world. When we say "digitally connected", we mean two or more systems talking to one another to achieve an outcome - and that outcome could be as simple as ordering food via your favorite app, or sending a manned mission to outer space.

The number of systems involved in carrying out even a single process is sometimes deceptive because we barely even think about it. As an example, let's consider ordering food - when you place an order, behind that well-designed app, you are talking to an order management system (i.e. where you decide what you want) which then routes you to a payment system (i.e. where your payment gets processed) and finally to the order fulfillment system (i.e. where the transaction gets reconciled and puts your order through to the restaurant). This is an oversimplification of an anyway simplistic process. Most typical business processes take anywhere between 20 - 30 systems, and large enterprise companies on average have over 150 systems which are all interconnected in a web-like way to carry out automated processes that help companies deliver seamless customer experiences, boost employee productivity and ultimately deliver great business outcomes.

But it all begins with connecting these systems, and connecting systems in hard. Unlike humans, every system speaks its own unique language and in order to talk to another system, it needs to understand the other system's language and make sure the other system understands its own. Now apply that to our web-of-systems analogy and you might start appreciating the scale of the challenge, which to say the least, is a worthy challenge in and of itself. But that's not all.

The way two systems have traditionally been "taught to communicate" (i.e, connected) is using code. But often the way companies need systems to talk evolves over time, and that means adding more code. More code means more time, more effort in maintaining it, and still sweating because you never know when it might break. In other words, it's not fun.

Which is why it's no surprise that over $700B are spent every year in integrating business systems.

We believe there is a better way - to make connectivity code-free and reusable. Based on this belief, we, MuleSoft, were founded in 2006, and since then have grown to enable 2K+ medium to large-sized enterprise businesses establish what we like to call an "application network" - an agile connectivity fabric across all systems that bends and grows itself in the service of enabling our customers' business outcomes with minimal build / maintenance effort. Seeing our common values of enabling enterprise customers achieve stellar business outcomes, in 2018, we became part of the Salesforce family.

What we have accomplished so far dwarfs in comparison to where we are headed. With the explosion of SaaS, there are over 20K (!) business apps out in the market today, growing by thousands every year. Our customers are using many of these systems in some shape or form (that number is rapidly growing too). We want to stay ahead of the curve at all times, and continue serving our customers with their connectivity needs no matter where / how / when / why. We have ideas on how we will do this but we need help.

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager/ Product Manager of Connectivity who can help us on our journey towards helping customers achieve connectivity across tens of thousands of business applications. We have built a solid footing, and we're looking for someone who can help us scale.

As someone in this role, you will work alongside the team to hone our strategy on how we get there, and you will own and drive key product pillars that help us advance our product strategy. You will be crafting the strategy and roadmaps for your product areas. You will communicate your strategy to achieve organizational alignment. You will work alongside design / engineering / marketing to build and deliver on your roadmap. Ultimately, you will deliver value for our customers.

We are looking for someone who puts customers and CX first, is curious and a first-principled thinker, and cares deeply enough to challenge the status quo. Technical chops (or past experience as a developer / engineer) will be helpful in this role, but not necessary as long as you have the desire and aptitude to learn. If this sounds like you, we can't be more excited to talk to you. Please apply below. We will review your profile and if there is a good match, someone will reach out to you shortly.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand our business and the problems we are trying to solve, deeply
  • Understand your product areas and grow into a subject matter expert for those
  • Build and own the vision, strategy, roadmap and outcomes for your product areas.
  • Lead executive presentations (strategy reviews, business updates, etc.) for your product areas
  • Collaborate across product teams to deliver products that result in customer value
  • Collaborate with GTM teams to take your products to market and land in customers' hands, effectively
  • Drive thought leadership around your product areas with customers and partners
  • Establish and nurture relationships with our customers and partners

Experience/Skills:

  • Required: 5+ years product management experience
  • A will to get things done and push through (i.e. high agency) against all odds
  • Curious and clear thinker who can identify complex problems, break them down, come up with clever cost-effective solutions that translate into customer value.
  • Ability to articulate ideas effectively (both, verbally and in written) and tailor content towards guiding, aligning and inspiring your audience (i.e, executives, customers, partners and your technical team, alike)
  • Preferred (but not required): MBA degree with previous technical product / marketing experience or a background in a technical discipline
