Job Summary

This position oversees a team directing the implementation phases of new products or enhancements in support of the Retail Business Unit product roadmap, in collaboration with cross functional business partners. 

Organization

This position reports directly to the VP, Retail and will work closely with the Retail Portfolio Leaders to support of Retail Portfolio product related project planning and implementation.  This position oversees a team of leaders responsible for delivery of new product launches and execution of the product roadmap in collaboration with cross functional stakeholders across the company, and provides expert product advice/support in the implementation of new products or any enhancements to existing products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads the process for implementation of Retail Business Unit product initiatives and other key corporate projects. 
  • Focused on distribution needs by serving more and more customers, protecting more people and expanding into new markets through the following:
    • Team drives delivery of new product launches and execution of the Retail roadmap in collaboration with cross functional stakeholders across the company.
    • Provides expert product advice/support in the implementation of new products or any enhancements to existing products inclusive of applying product specifications, developing product supporting tools and administrative system verification.
  • In partnership with Retail business leads, facilitates prioritization of projects and drives them to completion by assisting various departments in meeting deadlines and deliverables.
  • Accountable for timeliness and quality of all Retail product implementations.
  • Plans, prioritizes and directs resources to assure delivery of approved project requirements checking tools and / or forms on or prior to target launch dates. 
  • Ensures that lessons learned are completed and continuously improve upon the project implementations through the lessons learned.
  • Manages and develops department’s human resources including mentoring, teaching, recruiting, and hiring within corporate guidelines.   Typically manages other managers as well as staff personnel.
  • Builds solid relationships across the organization.
  • With the ePMO, enables the development of and adherence to a company-wide project management methodology, including regular status reporting, periodic meetings, preparation of project plans and development of training materials.
  • Development of the architecture and integration of a more agile process for Retail product implementation- including but not limited to: reporting, process flows and tools, requirement documents.   

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Masters Degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Eight years progressively more responsible experience in the financial services industry with a concentration on life insurance and annuity products.
  • Background must include a minimum of six years’ experience in project management and three years’ experience in a managerial role.
  • Strong project management experience, including PMP , Lean, or Six Sigma certifications
  • Experience leading operations or product strategic initiatives
