About the Director of Product

The ideal candidate for the Director of Product will have demonstrated experience creating software products that scale, using customer feedback, an analytical mindset, and attention to detail to guide high performing product discovery and delivery processes. This role will help guide a team responsible for developing a platform that millions will trust to be their energy partner. The Director of Product will work closely with Rhythm’s executive leadership to create and execute a vision for energy market leadership. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of product management experience, with increasing responsibility, demonstrated ability to solve complex customer- and internal-facing product challenges, and demonstrated history of product ownership
  • Highly analytical decision-maker who uses data to guide prioritization
  • Ability to distill complex workflows into defined stories and tasks, communicating with equal fluency with business and technical counterparts
  • Technical background, with strong understanding of software development processes
  • Deep familiarity with Agile frameworks and Scrum
  • Experience working in fast-paced environment, with a preference for experience in start-up and scale-up environments
  • Organized leader with experience creating operating processes for high performing product and engineering teams; including, ensuring discovery that informs thoughtful prioritization of efforts, coordinating stakeholders to ensure requirements are fully understood and communicated, creating artifacts that ensure clarity of work to be delivered and the definition of done, and building Product/Engineering cohesion that leads to strong delivery.
  • Ability to organize and support delivering of multiple time horizon product priorities, balancing short term feature needs, with long-term, strategic differentiation
  • Experience using industry leading software platforms for managing and visualizing product development (Jira, Figma, etc.)
  • Able to adapt in a rapidly changing business and industry
  • Strong business mindset, able to ensure product prioritzation and tradeoffs rest on clear business logic
  • Deep passion for the challenge of changing the energy status quo
  • Experience creating a positive office culture
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience working in B2C environments or e-commerce platforms strongly preferred
  • Passion for sustainability, renewable energy, and conservation a plus

Job Responsibilities

  • With Head of Product, own and execute the product roadmap, prioritizing product features by combining and coordinating input from stakeholders both internal (Engineering, Marketing, Commercial, Sales, Operations), and external (customer feedback, competitive landscape, regulatory input)
  • Own Rhythm’s product governance processes, including intake of ideas, prioritization and execution of discovery, and oversight of delivery
  • Work with key internal stakeholders on product launch strategies and timing
  • Develop and execute detailed plans for user testing, with a focus on integrating user feedback into all new product introductions. Develop a culture of continued development/enhancement post launch
  • Develop consistent approach to value assessment to support product roadmap, ensuring that business impact is foremost in product roadmap
  • Lead creation of institutional knowledge base, ensuring a detailed, team-wide knowledge of the Rhythm external and internal customer experience
  • Drive improvements in key success metrics
  • Lead a team of product managers and analysts, providing structure for product team success.
  • Monitor and assess Scrum activities to help evaluate and enhance team performance

Geography

  • Rhythm is based in Houston, TX with a large remote workforce. Remote applicants will be considered for this position.
