Department OverviewWithin the Video Security & Access Control (VS&AC) business unit at Motorola Solutions, we are helping solve some of the biggest challenges around safety and physical security by developing advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and products that are used to help keep people, businesses, and cities around the world safer. Our products have been installed in more than 120 countries at thousands of customer sites, including school campuses, transportation systems, healthcare centers, public venues, critical infrastructure, prisons, factories, casinos, airports, financial institutions, government facilities, and retailers.
Job Description
Reporting to the VP, Product management, the Director of Product Management - Video Solutions is responsible for the business success of Motorola Solutions Video Portfolio. This position involves leading a team of product managers who collectively are the voice of the market within the organization and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap. Product managers are expected to develop and maintain a deep understanding of our customers and target markets such that we can ensure we develop products that deliver valuable outcomes and build a unique market position for our business. Product leaders will partner with product development, design, and research to drive our product efforts in line with the roadmap.
Responsibilities include:
Market
Identification, qualification, and quantification of current and future market needs with insight gathered from outside of the organization
Being the champion of the market and customer within the organization
Deeply understanding the competitive environment and our product competitive position.
Vision, Strategy, and Roadmap
Translation of market problems into world class product innovations, establish a 5 year vision of our desired market position and a strategy to get there
Ensuring requirements are well documented and internal stakeholders clearly understand product requirements
Ensuring investments and project prioritization decisions are consistent with that vision
Establishing clear product vision – the who, what, why, where, and when (but not the how) and champion that within the organization and ensure all project decisions are consistent with that vision
Creation and maintenance the product roadmap
Develop and maintenance of the business case for each project including revenue projections and project ROI
Product life cycle
Accountable for product line success in the market (revenue, margin, and market share) and achievement of business goals set out at product approval phase
Managing a product through the entire product life cycle from initial concept to product end-of-life
Continually monitor product line performance and take action accordingly
Overseeing product introduction to market and ensuring the launch is impactful and effective
Establishing product pricing strategy and product pricing
Identify and maintain strategic partnerships
Represent product activity in sales forecasting effort
Sales support
in collaboration with Product Marketing ensure sales tools and technical collateral are sufficient to enable the channel to successfully position the product
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Engineering related fields preferred.
10+ Years of work experience in Product Management.
Experience leading a product management team.
Proven track record of leading and delivering amazing product solutions that are enthusiastically embraced by customers.
Exceptional critical thinker, decisive, ability to anticipate market trends, evaluate tradeoffs and risk in a manner that results in a well thought out strategy.
Demonstrated ability to establish credibility with engineering and create strong collaborative relationships
Strong analytical skills, financial acumen and strategic business capabilities are required.
Exceptional oral communication skills. Able to effectively present ideas, roadmap elements, status updates and/or proposals to upper levels of management, including non-technical staff.
Strong written communication skills in support of vision, market, business and functional requirements.
Physical Security market experience a strong asset
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, pricing, and product performance analysis
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required. Engineering related fields preferred.
10+ Years of work experience in Product Management
Experience leading a product management team.
