By joining the product leadership team, you'll be pivotal to building the product team, advancing our vision, and ultimately driving exponential growth into the next chapter for ClickUp. Our goal is to make ClickUp to be the best place to be a PM, and you'll be key to delivering on that promise. You’ll be working every day to improve our product to fulfill our one and only mission of making the world more productive. 

 

You'll be directly managing a team of product managers whom will be leading and executing on large product areas. You will coach each PM to become better at their craft and ensure they and their teams are delivering value to our users more quickly and more consistently than the competition. You'll build out the team and identify the best talent we need to bring in to achieve our goals. To be effective, you'll need to thrive in a product-driven environment that values excellent design—both UX and UI—and you will be responsible for ensuring your direct reports are hitting the mark.

 

The Platform team focuses on Core Services, Public API, Mobile Apps, Chrome Extensions, User Management, ClickApps, Templates and the Design System. You will be responsible for building the team to staff these areas so we can take a portfolio based approach to meeting all of our strategic goals. You will partner with the VP of Product and Zeb, the CEO, to define the overarching strategy for these areas and ensure that each Group Product Manager is able to lead and execute efficiently within their product area.

 

When you're not reviewing projects, you'll also be collaborating with a cross-functional leaders from product operations, marketing, sales and operations so that you can and enable go to market activities and adjust your platform strategy in response to changes in market trends or user needs.

 

This role truly is an unprecedented opportunity to have an immense impact and guide ClickUp through its next phase of exponential growth. With that said, we're looking for someone to live and breathe the product for the next year to two years to really level up the product. You’ll never see another product team like ours - we literally ship a new version of ClickUp every single week.

 

What you will be doing:

In addition to all the non-IC responsibilities of the Group Product Manager, we expect Directors of Product Management to:

  • Product Leadership: Provide impactful strategic contributions to how the Product Leadership Team operates and help shape the priorities of the Product function.
  • Strategy & Goals: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of ClickUp's overall and department-specific strategy to identify and execute on opportunities to further transform the way teams work together.
  • Ensure Team Solves Real Problems: Within the area of ownership, ensure that team creates product experiences that solve the job-to-be-done.
  • Partner with Product Leadership: Across your peer group - work to identify areas to partner with peers to create single app experiences that solve the job-to-be-done.
  • Coaching: Ensure adequate Career Coaching is available to all Product Managers in your organization, including correcting course when identifying disconnects in vision and providing appropriate level of guidance or latitude to managers and team members.
  • Thought Leadership: Contribute to building a presence to help support hiring for the function.
  • Define Metrics & Goals: Analyze GTM metrics and propose and complete improvements to our go-to-market interactions including pricing, product positioning and process.
  • M&A: Maintain priorities for and champion acquisitions that impact our product maturity.
  • Product Demos: Perform product walkthroughs regularly to highlight opportunities for improved workflows that span groups, stages and section.
  • Culture Setting: Exemplify, coach others on, and contribute to ClickUp's values.
  • Partnership with Engineering: Responsible for health of working relationships with Engineering Directors.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Works cross the product organization and cross-functionally to ensure an excellent end-to-end customer experience.
  • Vision Setting: Establishes compelling team purpose that is aligned to overall organizational vision.
  • Inspire the team: Inspires broader team to achieve results.

 

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience in Product Management in a design-driven environment.
  • 4+ years in Platform Product Management
  • 2+ years experience directly managing other product managers.
  • A seasoned strategist, analyst, and product-minded thinker.
  • Experience driving complex projects or programs with several competing stakeholders.
  • Skilled at big stage communications.
  • Natural leadership. You know how to influence people to get things done across any job function.
  • Clear and effective written communication that leads to fast decision making.
  • Experience in gathering business insights and identifying trends from data, including combination of data from multiple sources.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders with data.
  • Experience synthesizing and presenting complex information to senior leadership in writing and verbally.
  • Excellent eye for detail and demonstrated obsession with building great user experiences.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and be flexible/nimble.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Cross functional collaboration and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent at understanding and managing business impact across a wide range of product domains.
  • Capable of making key pricing and packaging recommendations.
  • Experienced at hiring and at managing out underperformance.
  • Excellent at caring personally for team members and providing candid real-time feedback.
