BASIC FUNCTION

The Business Innovation Product Owner is an important role within our Employee Benefits Administration Practice, which provides employee benefit administration and consulting services to employers of all types. The Business Innovation Product Owner partners with business stakeholders to define competitive enhancements to our suite of total benefits outsourcing products and services, then prioritizes and leads technology development to ensure the highest value, best functionality, and timely delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

  • Serve as the technology expert to consult with business stakeholders in the definition, development, and implementation of technology solutions that support our growing suite of innovative benefit outsourcing solutions.
  • Research and provide information regarding industry trends, marketplace demands, and competitive technology to assist the business in developing and prioritizing Business Innovation projects.
  • Analyze the Business Innovation needs proposed by the business stakeholders and align product roadmap to strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders during the visioning and concept development of a product.
  • Own the product roadmap to assure timely delivery; maintain appropriate and timely communication with the business sponsors and key stakeholders.
  • Solve product-related problems, make decisions, complete trade-off analysis to stay on track towards business deliverable commitments.
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end user experience integration and dependencies.
  • Develop scope and maintain an appropriately prioritized backlog of user stories to guide the technology development team implementation.



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Leadership Skills. Ability to gain approval of product vision with business users and communicate this to technology professionals.
  • Communication Skills. Ability to articulate detailed requirements and technical design documents that are understandable both to the business sponsor and the technology professionals (written, verbal, and visual forms).
  • Education/Experience. Bachelor's degree or equivalent; experience or knowledge of employee benefit industry strongly preferred.
  • Continuing Education: Current understanding of relevant trends in employee benefits and application development through conferences, magazines, books, and internet research.
  • Important Qualities: Compatibility with Milliman Professionals, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills, Sensitive to Quality, Flexibility, Priority Identification, and Project Management.
