Job Description
The Scientific Data Consumption Product Line (SDC) provides a combination of technology, infrastructure, software, and personnel to support large scale data engineering, data analytics and data science activities. This position is accountable for, and owns, all aspects of the Application Enablement product to ensure effective and efficient development, implementation, and operations of analytics applications utilizing Scientific Data Consumption Platform (SDCP). In addition, the position will also be responsible for aligning activities in the Data Enablement and Self-Service products with Analytics Application Enablement product to fully enable analytics applications utilizing SDCP.
The scope of the Application Enablement product includes -

  • Managing demand from applications utilizing SDC platform
  • Implementing and sustaining engineering tool kits and standards to make application development and implementation more efficient and robust
  • Providing engineering services to applications as needed
  • Providing solution architecture assistance as needed
  • Implementation of new capabilities required by analytics applications utilizing SDC
  • Ongoing coordination with downstream analytics applications product squads


Specific responsibilities and activities include the following -

  • Responsible for the overall vision, delivery strategy, and OKR (Objectives and Key Results) fulfillment
  • Partner with SDC product managers to develop OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) for the product by aligning with the broader strategic vision of the SDC platform
  • Shape and own the product roadmap by actively working with other squads to clarify requirements and set delivery expectations
  • Engage with key stakeholders across Research & Development Sciences (RaDS) to understand analytics ready data and experience needs in support of insights to accelerate research.
  • Define digital product ecosystem in the product to support stakeholder capability needs
  • Direct the development and prioritization of backlogs to meet the capabilities and technical/engineering requirements of analytics products with a focus on value creation for analytics applications product squads
  • Stand up cross-functional agile teams to deliver digital products, with relentless focus on efficiency & effectiveness of the team
  • Manage risks and issues related to Application Enablement
  • Actively work with the Engineering, Compliance, and Testing chapters of the SDC Platform to appropriately staff the product squads
  • Participate and guide planning of sprints as necessary
  • Own and drive the demand management process for intake of analytics applications and their associated data and capability requirements
  • Partner with SDC Solution Architect to provide architecture assistance during planning and design of analytics applications utilizing SDCP
  • Partner with analytics applications product owners to staff engineers on their squads when needed
  • Act as the lead and single point of contact for new analytics applications onboarding and set up, including providing inputs, estimates, and operational guidance
  • Possess solid understanding of good data engineering and management practices and ability to create a vision that enables easy access to analytics ready data across RaDS
  • Partner with the analytics application squads during execution and act as the primary point of contact to ensure smooth implementation of analytics applications utilizing SDCP.
  • Utilize this external perspective to influence products in the product line and enable innovation to support business needs and new insights
  • Develop and implement communications and marketing strategies to ensure awareness and education of digital products.
  • Monitor and enhance adoption and usage of digital products to improve business outcomes as well as utilization and return on investment on products
  • Partner with engineering and architecture to continue to refine product strategy and architecture that improves data availability and enhances insights possibilities in support of business outcomes.
  • Develop business case and investment plans in support of investments in products in the product line, gain investment approvals and monitor and manage spend and ROI for the investments.
  • Build, grow and support talent in Product teams through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and giving feedback.


Education:

  • B.A./B.S. in computer sciences or equivalent field required


Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of overall work experience in IT
  • 2+ of experience related to data and analytics related products or projects
  • Experience integrating and transforming largescale data sets using multiple compute environments
  • Extensive working knowledge in cloud based data and analytics solutions
  • Solid understanding of good data engineering and management practices and ability to create a vision that enables easy access to analytics ready data across enterprise
  • Sound understanding and demonstrated experience in integrating and transforming data in a wide variety of data stores including object, MPP, NoSQL, Graph and relational data stores
  • Demonstrated leadership principles and strong collaborative skills to drive tangible results working in a matrix environment.
  • Has managed geographically distributed squads
  • Strong communication skills with ability to align the organization on complex technical decisions
  • Business outcomes driven leadership with ability to connect value to investments and relentless focus on actions that lead to better value and ROI
  • Strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills with ability to align the organization on complex technical decisions
  • Solid understanding of the technologies and processes enabling big data platforms, data warehouses and data analytics at large
  • Excellent people management and team management skills


Preferred:

  • Solid understanding of tools and technologies related to data and analytics
  • Prior experience with utilizing agile methodologies
  • Prior working knowledge and experience with implementing analytics applications utilizing big data platforms in AWS and related tools
  • Knowledge of, and experience in Research systems and business processes
  • Proven expertise in the Research data and analytics domain with emphasis on delivery and value creation
