Job Summary

Barings is seeking a product strategy analyst to the shaping of the firm's investment product offering and driving innovation to ensure alignment with client needs and the anticipated investment landscape. Their focus will be on the development of a comprehensive market intelligence capability to support teams and senior leaders across the business, as well as the idea generation of new Products to help support Barings strategic priorities and objectives. The individual will work closely with colleagues across Investment, Distribution and Corporate & Product Strategy.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and production of market intelligence & competitor insight to support the Product Strategy, Corporate Strategy and Product Management teams, and the wider business.
  • Develop a market intelligence framework and reporting package leveraging internal and external data sources, working with stakeholders to ensure the efficient use of existing platforms.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate market and competitor research consistent with industry best practice and seek opportunities to maximise the value from findings at both a strategic and tactical level.
  • Support the Corporate Strategy team with regular and ad-hoc analysis at both an industry and firm level.
  • Monitor industry trends and market data across geographies and investor types.
  • In conjunction with the Product Strategy team, prepare regular reports summarising key market and competitor activity aligned to Barings strategic goals and objectives.
  • Build and manage relationships with external market research providers and specialist data distributors to maximise value and insight from services and build strong relationships with group-wide business areas and internal functions, working closely with other insight functions as required.



Knowledge, Skills, Attributes Required

  • Experienced in the delivery of market intelligence and competitor insight, third party relationship management, briefing, project management and interpreting outcomes, demonstrating innovation and commercial awareness.
  • Detailed knowledge of the international asset management industry including investor types, distributional channels, the competitor landscape and an excellent technical knowledge of investment products is essential.
  • An understanding of the competitor landscape and the regulatory framework and requirements is required in order to build effective research plans and outputs.
  • Highly logical and numerate, with the ability to source, clean, analyse and draw interpretations from large and complex data sets.
  • Self-starter with excellent inter-personal skills and confidence to deal with requests from all ends of the management spectrum.
  • Excellent presentation skills including the ability to articulate and convey concepts and ideas to a senior audience in a clear and compelling manner.
