In this role you will provide leadership and best practices for architecture across several different business segments and Application Development Teams. You will be key contributor on architectural decisions related to segment initiatives ensuring they align to compliance standards and with target enterprise architecture vision. You will need a broad knowledge that expands disciplines and the ability to listen and quickly understand the functional areas of the bank. Additionally, this role is responsible to ensure that critical applications are optimized for high availability and disaster recovery. This role reports to a Director of Technology.

We are taking a Customer Led, API First, approach to solve for our customers' needs. Taking a product driven approach to improving our customer experience through API's as products as part of our digital experience ensures we deliver the highest value experiences to our customers.

FNBO is seeking an API Product Architect that must focus on design and development of our API Product Portfolio for the enterprise. The architect will also focus on the overall architecture of the digital cloud technology stack. As part of a larger Product team, you will be expected to lead, contribute and work closely with the API product owner and product management. The API Architect will own the overall design and software architecture of each API published to all API Portfolio.

Our Team goal is to stay centered and focused on the customer. That means we all must be customer-led toward solving real customer problems and improving the customer's user experience. This role will forge a critical "bond" between the Business and Product teams by shaping the product through product strategy while ensuring technology alignment for optimal product development and delivery.

Role Description:

Sets the overall strategic direction and blueprint for the API Platform architecture including product design and technology alignment with the engineering team on development and deployment of all API-enabled capabilities across the entire API Portfolio

Key Accountabilities:

  • Bring analytical, conceptual and social thinking skills to the product teams
  • Collaborate with business team, product managers and API product owner on all customer led function/feature requirements
  • Ensure the outside-in API-First discipline is followed from beginning of discovery, definition and through design and delivery
  • Share in owning the overall architecture for the API product suite
  • Participate in strategic and tactical collaboration discussions and decisions related to vendor selection, API candidates and overall design of the API platform
  • Responsible for defining API specification and software development best practices to be implemented by the engineering team
  • Create highly desirable, simplistic and powerful APIs for our business segments and consumers within their own digital experience
  • Ensure the API Portfolio Marketplace and Developer Portal is user friendly and is designed for easy access and simple consumption by working closely with the UI/UX designer
  • Provide technical oversight and mentoring to the engineering team throughout design, implementation, testing and deployment phases

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in API Design, Software Development and CI/CD Deployments
  • Highly experienced with API-First methodology, RESTful API design, Open API Spec, Microservices, Kubernetes Containers, Service-Mesh, API Gateways, API Dev-Portals, API Management, No-Sql, ORM, and Cloud-based platforms
  • Experience with the following architecture techniques: Request/Response, Event-Driven/Streaming and Batch/ETL architectures
