About the team:
This position is for the Modern Banking Platform (MBP) Product Owner team - Retail Deposits.
FIS Modern Banking Platform is cloud-enabled, componentized, open and secure - a modernized core solution designed with API-first functionality that provides FIS clients with the flexibility and speed needed to innovate into the future.
What you will be doing:
Product Owners employ customer centricity and design thinking to guide agile scrum teams in delivering software applications that meet client and strategic goals. This role must be well versed in Agile principles and methodology; experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is a plus.
As a member of the MBP Product Owner team you will:

  • Break down Features from Product Management into small, deliverable user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Provide daily product direction to 1 or 2 scrum teams
  • Work with the Product Management team and Solution Architect to ensure scope alignment
  • Contribute to feature prioritization discussions with the Product Management team
  • Prioritize a team's iteration backlog of user stories
  • In conjunction with the scrum master, protect the scrum team from fly-in work by managing stakeholder's requests.


GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands product strategy, market, industry, and client goals for Retail Deposit products and processing.
  • Contributes to prioritization discussions with Product Managers; employs Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF) thinking to provide insightful input.
  • Works with stakeholders to understand business problem statements and convert them into user stories.
  • Articulates product vision and user stories in a manner clearly understandable to development teams.
  • Manages backlog of user stories for one or more products or components - understands end-to-end business processes.
  • Establishes user story acceptance criteria, accepts user stories, refines stories with Scrum teams.
  • Provides immediate and accessible feedback on a daily basis to the scrum team(s) to ensure application changes meet acceptance criteria.
  • Participates in Iteration planning and Program Increment Planning activities with the development scrum teams.
  • Monitors the development progress and provides updates to stakeholders, as requested.
  • Applies Agile methods and processes and encourages frequent inspection and adaptation of ongoing work product.
  • Leads planning and review meetings to communicate feedback on development achievements.
  • Other related duties assigned as needed.


GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES• Knowledge of financial services industry• Knowledge of FIS products and services or similar Fintech solutions• Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience and systems development environment experience are preferred• Strong negotiation, organization, management, analytical and people skills• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization (e.g., executive, management, individual contributors)• Positive outlook, strong work ethic, and responsive to internal and external clients and contacts
What you bring:

  • 2 or more years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Project Manager in the financial services software industry
  • Customer centric mindset that applies design thinking principles
  • The desire to be a change agent and advocate for the adoption of Agile principles.
  • Strong negotiation, organization, management, analytical and people skills


Added bonus if you have:

  • Subject matter expertise and experience working on Retail Deposits products and services
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) PO/PM certification and/or experience
