Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Technical Product Manager with deep functional knowledge of Forecasting and Inventory Management, to join our exciting and fast-growing Data Science team. A forecast signal drives actions across the supply chain. The primary focus of the Product Manager is to define capabilities to improve the quality of the forecast and bring them to life through technical requirements.

Running an efficient supply chain requires significant coordination between teams to ensure smooth and effective execution. This role will require a collaborative mindset that is able to influence decisions cross-functionally and be able to relay appropriate information to the stakeholders within Supply Chain, Merchandizing, and Finance. Our ability to have the right products in the right place at the right time is critical to the continued growth of Chewy. Your work has a direct impact on our overall business, and the right candidate will need to be ready to operate with a high degree of autonomy from day one.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Cross Functional coordination between the Demand Planning, In-stock, Data Science, and IT Engineering teams on forecasting projects and processes.
  • Conduct working sessions between business stakeholder and Data Science teams to ensure requirements, test plans, and change management actions are clearly laid out.
  • Build and own a cross-functional roadmap with a timeline that reflects the short-term and long-term strategy. Ensure the relevant stakeholders are accountable and executing against the roadmap.
  • Foster collaboration between data scientists, PMs, and engineers, to build forecasting capabilities for the Retail forecasting track which will directly impact purchasing and ground operations. The product manager will require to articulate technical requirements in the form of whitepapers, functional requirement documents, and high-level pseudo code.
  • Report up to leadership on the health and metrics important to successful execution of the established roadmap.

What You'll Need:

  • Master’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business and at least one degree in Computer Science, IT, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills and technical skills in SQL and Advanced Excel. Must also know either Python or R, with the ability to pull data and use it to identify and solve ambiguous problems.
  • Candidates should possess some program management skills to build RACIs, priority lists, roadmaps, etc.
  • Technical skills to consult on master data, enterprise systems, SDLC, cloud infrastructure, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience in writing whitepapers to communicate business objectives, problems, or results.
  • 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management areas of Forecasting, Inventory Planning, or Logistics.
  • 3+ years of experience in Program or Product management in driving cross functional initiatives spanning tech and non-tech teams.
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing and communicating results to senior management using metrics to determine improvements (3+ years applicable if candidate holds an MBA).
  • Up to 10% travel required.

  • Demonstrated ability to think big and influence across all levels of an organization.
  • Able to work in an agile setup and has prior experience working with agile software such as JIRA.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results.
  • Superior professional writing and communication skills.
  • Successful delivery of technology solutions.
  • E-commerce background a plus.
