Shape the organization's AI strategy and drive development and deployment of AI-powered solutions. Enhance operational efficiency, improve patient outcomes, and optimize healthcare processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, clinicians, and business stakeholders to understand external trends, internal pain points, and identify areas of opportunity to leverage AI to improve outcomes.

What you will do:

  • Define and communicate the long-term vision for AI products within the healthcare payer domain. Oversee new AI initiatives through design, launch, implementation, and ongoing management. Provide expertise to establish best practices and governance programs that monitor the effectiveness of the solution and mitigate any bias found in the output.
  • Conduct analysis to influence and lead development of artificial intelligence capabilities aligned with business strategy. Partner with internal and external stakeholders as a thought partner in the artificial intelligence space. Help support and strengthen engagement with generative artificial intelligence capabilities.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to support business objectives; leverage strategies to identify and evaluate opportunities. Monitor industry and competitive trends to help support strategies.
  • Lead regulatory and ethical business practices. Provide mentoring and coaching to associates in order to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to acquire, preprocess, and curate relevant healthcare data. Oversee the development and training of machine learning models, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and interpretability. Monitor model performance and iterate based on real-world feedback.
  • Coordinate product launches, including user testing, documentation, and training. Drive adoption of AI solutions among internal teams and external users. Gather feedback and iterate on product features to enhance usability and effectiveness.
  • Develop sound business proposals that include costs of the solution, target markets, expected return on investment. Effectively sell business proposals to various levels of management throughout the organization.
  • Participate in department initiatives and projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • Three to five years of experience in strategy development, technical product development, or technical product management or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Proven experience interpreting industry trends and customer needs to identify and build new product offerings.
  • Ability to structure and manage substantial projects / initiatives.
  • Complete familiarity with generative artificial intelligence
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets.
  • Good business acumen and political savvy
  • Knowledge of business process improvement techniques and strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Master's Degree in technical field
  • Experience in healthcare or health insurance industry
  • Experience with artificial intelligence model deployment
  • Complete familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite to include CoPilot and ChatGPT integrations.

Location:

BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
