About Kami
Kami is a thriving organisation filled to the brim with talented, creative, and passionate people! It’s hard not to love what you do when our leading digital classroom platform offers meaningful solutions to over 50 million users worldwide, empowering students and supporting teachers!

You’ll be joining at a pretty magical time. Kami’s user base is growing by the day. With over 170 team members across the world, we couldn’t be prouder of the accomplishments and milestones we’ve achieved to date. Now, this is your chance to join our team and become an integral member of Kami’s growth, while shaping your own future (and having fun doing it)!

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Product Marketing leader to own and elevate Kami’s global product marketing — from shaping product positioning and messaging, to go-to-market strategy, to driving adoption and growth across diverse global markets. This is a high-impact role within our marketing leadership team, responsible for ensuring our digital classroom product resonates with educators, administrators, and learners worldwide.

You will partner closely with product, engineering, data, and customer success teams to blend user insights, education trends, and growth ambitions — helping to define what Kami builds next and how we bring it to market. Through strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a hands-on mindset, you will help Kami scale its mission of transforming education for millions.

This opportunity is based in our fully renovated Auckland office. We have a hybrid arrangement of Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in office. Tuesdays and Thursdays are work from home.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and own Kami’s global product marketing strategy, including positioning, messaging, segmentation, and go-to-market plans for both new features and core product offerings.
  • Influence the full lifecycle  — from insight generation (user research, market and competitive analysis), to product launches, onboarding experiences, growth, and long-term user engagement across different geographic and educational segments.
  • Develop deep audience understanding: maintain up-to-date personas for teachers, administrators, students, schools — ensuring messaging and positioning reflect varying educational contexts globally.
  • Partner cross-functionally — work closely with product, engineering, data, content, sales/customer-facing, and operations teams to align product roadmap, marketing strategy, and user needs.
  • Own go-to-market execution for new launches or major releases — including launch plans, content and assets creation, sales and customer-success enablement materials, and localization for key regions if needed.
  • Lead enablement and growth initiatives — drive onboarding processes, lifecycle communications, adoption campaigns, retention programs, and education-industry positioning for Kami’s user base worldwide.

What You’ll Bring

  • 6+ years of marketing experience with 2+ years in a product marketing focused role
  • Experience working within a high-growth startup, SaaS, app, or technology company
  • Experience managing small teams and enabling their growth
  • Track record of taking new or complex products to market and positioning them for success
  • Extreme agility and a strong bias towards action, comfortable rolling up your sleeves when required
  • A team player. You’ll be part of an extremely collaborative and supportive team committed to your success, and we all work together
  • Intellectually curious and globally minded. We work with all kinds of educators and students from all over the world
  • The ability to prioritise and manage large cross-functional workstreams and effectively communicate those priorities

What We Do

We come to work everyday to help foster a positive learning journey for everyone. Kami was developed in Aotearoa, New Zealand by four university friends who decided to make a difference. Ten years later, we’ve grown into a team of over 100 Kami-leons with a shared goal of supporting classroom heroes and leveling the playing field so that all students, no matter their age, grade, or ability, can love learning. We’re proud to have been named one of Time magazine’s most influential companies in 2022 and included in the Deloitte Fast 50 as the fastest growing company and fastest growing exporter in 2021. Our investors include leading Australian venture capitalist firm Right Click Capital, CapitalPitch, New Zealand-based Flying Kiwi Angels, New Zealand Venture Investment Fund, and notable Silicon Valley investors such as Sam Altman of Y Combinator and Scott Nolan of Founders Fund. Our Team: We believe that having a dedicated, enthusiastic, and non-hierarchical team can achieve remarkable things — we’re well on-track to proving it, too. Our company culture embraces diversity, compassion, transformation, and most importantly, fun! With these values, we're working to add a little magic to education so that teachers and students can achieve so much more together. We thrive in an encouraging environment where people can share ideas, generate solutions, and grow. Join us in building the future of education.
