Description
The Role:
The Process Engineer is responsible for program and project execution, including manufacturing plant floor support of machine, robotics, and mold recipe systems in the Injection Molding and Assembly Department. This Spring Hill, Tennessee based position offers the opportunity to leverage solid mechanical aptitude and process development experience to create and implement new processes for the manufacturing of fascia assemblies.
Responsibilities Include:
- Specification, design, estimation, Mold Flow Analysis, commissioning tooling, troubleshooting, training of skilled and non-skilled UAW employees, cost control, and documentation of machine, automation, and mold recipe systems
- Provide direction and oversight to outside suppliers
- Support Tip process for IMN
- Provide engineering direction and support to production
- Work with Corporate Engineering to develop standards, procedures, designs for new and existing equipment
Basic Required:
- 4 Year technical degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience as a process engineer
- Strong knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems
- Strong technical knowledge of plastic, assembly, and injection molding systems and the ability to apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated basic understanding of mechanical concepts involving machine designs and process requirements involved in the manufacturing process
- Ability to assist in all aspects of improvement projects relating to machine processes by utilizing scientific methods and mold flow analysis.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems relative to automation/machine control
- Demonstrated ability to manage challenging projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
- Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
- Proficiency in interpretation of engineering drawings
- Some travel may be required (5%) Basic Preferred:
- Experience with Krauss Maffei mold press and Fanuc automation
- General knowledge of Fascia assembly process and controls
- Prior work experience as a process engineer in automotive manufacturing
- Knowledge of GM's processes and completion of multiple engineering projects with successful individual achievements or strong team-based achievements
- Experience in welding plastic
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers and leadership
