The Privacy Counsel, Group Compliance and Functions is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive privacy policies and standards, managing group-wide data protection risks, and providing expert guidance on privacy compliance matters across the organization and, in particular, to their designated function(s).
Your role:- Provides Privacy legal advice and support on standard and recurring matters, ensuring accurate and timely responses to internal queries.
- Drafts and maintains the relevant privacy compliance requirements/control and coordinating their deployment into the organization (e.g. into the relevant processes);
- Coordinates key privacy compliance procedures in line with regulatory timelines;
- Monitors group-wide privacy compliance in line with internal standards and reporting to the relevant management of Group Functions;
- Internally reports on the privacy compliance status of the group, in line with internal standards;
- Supports the overall legal interpretation and implementation of key cybersecurity laws applicable to Philips;
For the assigned Functions:
- maintaining a good knowledge of the data protection practices and data processing activities of such Functions;
- informing and advising relevant management of its obligations according to Philips privacy policies and applicable data protection law;
- coordinating the deployment and monitoring of the privacy requirements and controls applicable to such Functions;
- identifying personal data processing activities and maintain the privacy compliance documentation complete and up to date (in line with internal policies and standards);
- assigning privacy compliance mitigations (where needed) and monitoring the implementation of the resulting mitigation actions (in line with internal policies and standards);
- identifying specific training needs and carrying out dedicated privacy trainings and awareness activities on privacy and data protection (in particular with leaders and with personnel involved in the structural processing of personal data);
- reporting on the privacy compliance status of the assigned Functions;
- acting as a delegate/representative of the Group DPO for the assigned Functions.
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience within a legal role (at a law firm and/or in-house) with a specific and dedicated focus on privacy and data protection.
- Legal background required (U.S. JD, EU LLB).
- Privacy certification (CIPP/E or similar) is a plus.
- Expert knowledge of EU data protection laws.
- Knowledge of EU cybersecurity laws is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in providing privacy legal and strategic support to global organizations.
- Experience in managing privacy legal issues at global level and to perform high-level work on a wide variety of privacy legal matters.
- Ability to be proactive and take rational but bold decisions under time pressure.
- Ability to independently handle complicated privacy legal matters.
- Excellent client management and communication skills in English.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience leading and advancing legal projects in a multi-stakeholder environment.
- Practical business judgment and ability to qualify actual practical risk.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
