Job Description:About the Role:

As a Principal Research Analyst for the Chlor-Alkali team you will provide research and analysis for products including but not limited to caustic soda, chlorine, chlor-alkali derivatives including hydrochloric acid, potassium hydroxide sodium hypochlorite bleach, and vinyls/PVC. Your research will include but not be limited to producer capacities, supply/demand balance information, trade balances, pricing, production costs, individual company analysis, market analysis, consumption analysis, and associated econometric modeling. You will build and nourish personal relationships with key industry contacts and independently interface with clients on specific areas of market expertise. You will report to the Global Chlor-alkali Market Advisory Service Leader.

You Will:

  • Provide primary research and ongoing analysis for the US & Mexico Chlor-Alkali markets and support the US and Canadian research teams
  • Convert your existing and previous chemical industry experience, knowledge and expertise, into analysis and insights for sustainable market advisory services
  • Develop and maintain a fundamental working understanding of CMA basic model templates of supply/demand, econometric price forecasts, and trade grids
  • Regularly collect market information, develop unique analytical approaches, and provide insightful reporting and analysis provides value to current and potential future CMA clients
  • Provide regular neutral and objective price input and written analysis for Market Advisory Service reports
  • Develop market presentations and pursue opportunities to present information in face-to-face client industry contact meetings and conferences
  • Update the production capacity database and supply-demand balances
  • Regularly interface with global Market Advisory Services team members to ensure analysis consistency
  • Promptly respond to internal/external client questions and serve as a resource for client brainstorming/discussions
  • Identify new business opportunities for sales and consulting follow-up and actively market CMA capabilities in direct interface meetings
  • Actively pursue and challenge existing analytical frameworks and conventional wisdom for continuous improvement
  • Proactively expand knowledge in other chemical areas to identify and advance new product opportunities for the Inorganics group

You Have:

  • English -AND- Spanish language fluency
  • At least 7 years' chemical industry experience, including but not limited to commercial experience related to the chlor-alkali, other electrolytic chemicals, alumina/aluminum, or pulp/paper industries
  • Computer modelling and Advanced Excel spreadsheet management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to research through established contacts with diverse market participant channels in telephone, e-mail and face-to-face interfaces
  • Writing samples that prominently showcase effective communication and business writing skills (mandatory - samples will be requested)
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • University degree in Chemical engineering, engineering, or chemistry -OR- equivalent work experience
  • MBA or other graduate degree (preferred)

Pay Range: $100,000 - $125,000
