Equifax is where you can power your possible. If you want to achieve your true potential, chart new paths, develop new skills, collaborate with bright minds, and make a meaningful impact, we want to hear from you.
Equifax is seeking a visionary Principal API Technical Architect to significantly contribute to identifying and implementing best-fit architectural solutions for our global enterprise. You will act as the critical bridge between our Global API Platform team and our diverse Business Units (BUs), designing technology solutions that amaze our customers and drive business value.
This role is not just about technology; it is about driving organizational transformation. You will orchestrate a high-stakes migration to our modern API fabric, pioneer the use of LLM-based Agentic tools to make platform adoption seamless, and establish ironclad standards for API stability and security. You will leverage enterprise level architecture influence to provide leadership to development teams and evangelize cutting-edge enterprise architecture.
Equifax has a hybrid work schedule that allows for two days of remote work (Monday and Friday) with 3 days onsite (Tuesday thru Thursday) every week.
This role reports to our office Alpharetta, GA (JVW) office.
This position does not offer immigration sponsorship (current or future) including F-1 STEM OPT extension support.
This is a direct-hire role and is not open to C2C or vendors.
What you will do
Architect & Engineer Platform Solutions: Lead the end-to-end architectural transition of our enterprise API gateway, ensuring it serves as a highly scalable, multi-tenant Global API Platform.
Bridge Strategy and Execution: Develop "Implementation Blueprints" that align BU engineering team requirements with strategic objectives and capabilities of the Global API Platform, preventing tech-debt and friction.
Pioneer Agentic & AI Workflows: Architect LLM-based Agentic Applications to automate API design reviews, accelerate onboarding, auto-generate documentation, and implement self-healing.
Enterprise Integration: Provide architecture solutions and integration patterns for connecting AI models (e.g. Vertex AI, Gemini) into the API layer, as well as evangelizing event-driven microservices.
Ensure Stability & Security: Design resilient API layers (rate limiting, circuit breakers) while leveraging Zero Trust architectural concepts to protect downstream BU systems.
Mentorship & Leadership: Be an active member of the architecture community, coaching and mentoring team members, peers, and product engineers across various BUs.
What experience you need
BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding, or equivalent job experience.
10+ years overall relevant tech experience, including 5+ years developing and/or administering software in the public cloud.
Deep expertise in enterprise API Management (Apigee strongly preferred, alongside Kong, AWS API Gateway, etc.).
Experience in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Node.js, or Go.
Experience with Google Cloud (GCP) is required; AWS is a plus.
Demonstrable cross-functional knowledge spanning systems, networking, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), CI/CD practices, and monitoring application uptime/availability.
Experience with message-driven application development and event-driven microservice implementation styles.
Hands-on experience with GenAI concepts, including LLM orchestration and integrating AI capabilities.
What could set you apart
Technology Advising & Communication: Proven ability to advise senior leadership and leverage influence without authority. You can articulate how highly technical capabilities support business outcomes and tailor messaging to specific audiences.
DevSecOps Mastery: Strong understanding of integrating security and compliance seamlessly into deployment pipelines without impacting developer velocity.
Cloud Services Expertise (GCP/AWS): Deep knowledge of leveraging cloud-native services, understanding both patterns and anti-patterns for cloud architecture.
Cloud Certification (e.g., GCP Professional Cloud Architect) is strongly preferred.
Advanced Application Development: Deep knowledge of Functional/Object-Oriented Programming, enterprise architecture frameworks, and creating conceptual/logical models that SDLC teams can easily follow.
