Primary Responsibilities

The Workplace Strategist is responsible for leading the development of innovative and effective workplace solutions that align with project and organizational goals by working closely with client leadership as well as the project team. The senior workplace strategist will employ a variety of planning, design and research methods to understand needs and recommend solutions. In order to stay current about workplace trends, this position is responsible for conducting research studies, developing research tools and building our database. For certain projects, responsibilities include leading the interior design for all phases of a project from programming through construction administration and supervising the work of others. This position will manage and mentor junior staff to support the growth of a workplace strategies and research program.

This position is also responsible for supporting business development efforts, development of the workplace strategies practice and participation on pursuit teams for projects throughout the US. Projects include office, research and public amenity space for corporate, academic, institutional, health care, and government sector clients. Projects may include office space for a variety of administrative, teaching, research, testing, and collaborative facilities for any project type.

Responsibilities

  • Works with client team and internal design team to create a project vision, understand business goals
  • Leads facilities and strategic programming efforts
  • Conducts fact finding research regarding current work styles and workplace conditions
  • For some projects, will lead interior design from concept through construction administration
  • Provides support on concurrent projects and related multidisciplinary teams
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to staff to assist in their career development
  • May assume the role of facilities planner, strategic planner and/or workplace strategist on projects
  • Works closely with the Regional Directors, Managing Principals, Planners, Marketing Coordinators and Pursuit Teams to support business development and marketing initiatives
  • May assume the role of facilities planner, strategic planner and/or workplace strategist on projects
  • Participates in Change Management activities and post-occupancy evaluations
  • Participates in conferences and promotes HDR's workplace strategy expertise both internally and externally
  • Will require travel to clients as necessary for meetings

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
  • 10 years of experience in relevant design firm environment
  • Strong working Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp/ Rhino (or similar), the Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office suite
  • NCIDQ certificate holder
  • ID license in state where applicable
  • LEED AP preferred
  • WELL AP preferred
  • Candidates who reside locally are preferred.
