Description

SAIC is currently seeking to hire a Windows Systems Administrator to provide Enterprise Information Technology (IT) Solutions team located in Aberdeen, Maryland. The team is using innovative software and hardware tools to both re-write legacy systems and create new features to maximize cost savings, resource utilization and provide a solution to unique Army application hosting, management and deployment challenges.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operates as a member of the project's engineering team in an Agile engineering environment
  • Works independently with general direction and as a team member under the direction of the project's engineering team lead. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and annual operational maintenance, support, and software upgrades for Windows Server 2012 R2, 2019, Windows 10 workstations and laptops, and Android mobile devices.
  • Manages multiple servers comprising multiple virtual machines (VMs) using VMware's ESXi hypervisor, vSphere client VM manager, and vCenter system manager
  • Manages Cisco network switches including the configuration and maintenance of virtual local area networks (VLANs)
  • Continually monitors and tunes system resources to achieve optimum performance, maximize system uptime, and troubleshoot system problems
  • Able to work within a hybrid environment to include On-premise and AWS GovCloud workloads
  • Provides inputs and updates to the required system documentation, such as the System Administration Guide
  • Performs complex software installations and upgrades to the operating systems, system services, application support packages, and application updates for Windows and Android software product deliverables
  • Schedules backups, installations, upgrades, and maintains the system hardware and software in accordance with the customer's IT and IA policies and procedures
  • Ensures system and application data recoverability by maintaining a schedule of system backups, database archives, and restoration operations
  • Provides support to the Operations team and the customer's users to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system problems
  • Works with the engineering team to ensure system and application data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions
  • Works with the engineering team to plan, implement, and test upgrades to the system hardware and software in both on-premise and cloud environments
  • Works with the IA team on security vulnerability and compliance scanning of the system servers and workstations as required under a DoD Authority to Operate (ATO)
  • Works with the IA team to maintain a Risk Management Framework (RMF) posture and participate in the RMF activities required to achieve and maintain an ATO
  • Executes and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules
  • Conducts hardware and software audits of servers, workstations, and mobile devices to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines

Qualifications

Required Education:

Bachelors degree with nine (9) years of experience; four (4) years of experience accepted is lieu of degree.

Required Skills:

  • Windows server and workstation system administration including Windows server/LDAP/AD
  • Experience in VMware virtual machines, services, and tools
  • Experience in the use of Windows scripting languages as well as the development, test, use, and maintenance of scripts on Windows servers
  • Basic understanding of system acceptance testing (SAT), operational test readiness review (TRR), and discrepancy reporting (DR)
  • Basic understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF) process and compliance with an Authority to Operate (ATO)

Required Clearance:

Must have an active Secret with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret / SCI clearance; US Citizenship is required

Required Certifications:

IAT Level II/8570 compliance - Security + and Computing Environment (CE) Cert

Desired Skills:

  • Linux server and workstation system administration including RHEL/CentOS
  • Experience in the use of Linux scripting languages as well as the development, test, use, and maintenance of scripts on Linux servers
  • Experience with the Agile/Scrum methodologies, i.e. release planning, sprints, daily standup, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
  • Experience with Atlassian Suite Products (ex. JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.)
  • Preferred familiarity with the following SW and applications:
    • Amazon Web Services - VPC, EC2, RDS, Console
    • VEEAM
    • Red Hat
    • Command line - comfort with Windows and Linux OS
  • Experience with PostgreSQL database server and databases
  • Experience with Information Assurance vulnerability scanning tools including Nessus and SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC)
  • Experience in the interpretation of IA vulnerability and compliance and scan reports and the implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to remove vulnerabilities for IA compliance
