Windows System Administrator
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and 5 years of demonstrated results or a Master's degree and 3 years of relevant experience. Full experience within own IT field and applications is required.
The successful Windows System Administrator must have:
- 5+ years' experience with Installing, configuring and supporting windows-based applications on Windows 7, 8, and 10 desktop systems, both virtual and physical
- Analyzing requirements for deployment of new desktop applications, creating deployment plans and automation processes for new applications
- Extensive knowledge of Server and PC hardware and software maintenance
- Hands-on experience creating and implement desktop images
- Hands-on experience managing thin client environment (VMware Horizon preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with Group Policy Management, to include creation of policies, troubleshooting and maintaining
- Desktop Image creation and validation using System Center Configuration Manager
- Familiar with antivirus and security software (HBSS) and troubleshooting services affected by these software applications
- Proficient with TCP/IP network protocol, to include a basic understanding of networking components (switches, routers, TACLANEs, etc.) and infrastructure
This position requires a minimum of an active DoD Top Secret Security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
- A minimum of a IAT Level II (DoD 8570.1M) certification is required: e.g. GIAC Security Essentials - GSEC; CompTIA Security+ CE; Security Certified Network Professional - SCNP; Systems Security Certified Practitioner - SSCP
Responsibilities for this Position
Do you live in the Windows command line window? Do you want to be a part of a Windows Administration team supporting our Nation's Cyber initiatives? General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is actively seeking a Windows System Administrator based in our Scottsdale, AZ office. In this role you will be part of a team that is responsible for Windows administration of a cross domain enterprise solution product platform.
The successful Windows System Administrator must have:
- 5+ years' experience with Installing, configuring and supporting windows-based applications on Windows 7, 8, and 10 desktop systems, both virtual and physical
- Experience automating installs using tools Ansible and Powershell
- Analyzing requirements for deployment of new desktop applications, creating deployment plans and automation processes for new applications
- Extensive knowledge of Server and PC hardware and software maintenance
- Hands-on experience creating and implement desktop images
- Hands-on experience managing thin client environment (VMware Horizon preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with Group Policy Management, to include creation of policies, troubleshooting and maintaining
- Desktop Image creation and validation using System Center Configuration Manager
- Familiar with antivirus and security software (HBSS) and troubleshooting services affected by these software applications
- Proficient with TCP/IP network protocol, to include a basic understanding of networking components (switches, routers, taclanes, etc.) and infrastructure
Highlights of Responsibilities:
- Responsible for successful engineering execution of LAN build-out and deployment
- Provide input to work breakdown and prioritization of tasking
- Maintains system documentation
- May program in an administrative language such as PowerShell
- Self-starter and ability to work tasks with little supervision or assistance
- Proactively identify issues and resolve and make suggestions for improvements to the environment
- Troubleshoot issues to resolution with customer impacting issues being priority and worked on until completion
- Some travel required for site deployment to Omaha (approx 15% travel)
