Do you want to play a role in global commerce?
Reporting to the Global Head of Utilities, the VP, Origination and Wholesale Energy Development role will lead clean energy contract opportunities with energy utility partnerships to focus on Prologis energy revenue growth in the US. This role will be instrumental providing energy industry technical expertise and utility interface guidance to Prologis Energy, EV Charging and Data Center development teams. Supporting the global head of utilities in maintaining senior level strategic relationships with some utilities, this role will lead technical and commercial development of distributed energy resource (DERs) projects including solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar + BESS, building electrification (BE), managed EV charging operations, load interconnections for data centers or an economic combination of any of these solutions per opportunities for partnership with the all US energy utilities
What's needed in order to do that:

  • Lead Prologis engagement with US electric utility teams in their energy procurement origination (request for offers) cycles to package Prologis bids for portfolio of clean energy projects at Prologis properties for long term capacity and energy contracts and support ongoing contract management activities.
  • Represent Prologis in interfacing with utility teams and account representatives in inter-connection requests for Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure deployment to support Prologis charging as a service (CaaS) product for medium and heavy-duty transportation logistics, load interconnections for data center developments, building electrification (BE) needs, etc. or a combination of any of these paired with on-site renewables per economic opportunities for specific projects and in-partnership with the local energy utility.
  • Support Development, negotiation, and execution of economic long-term offtake capacity, energy/tolling, REC contracts with utilities. These could be 'in front of the meter' (IFOM) or 'behind-the-meter' (BTM) capacity and energy contracts (not wholesale energy rates). Support tactical contract management relationship on executed contracts with utility teams.
  • Partner with utility grid planning and modernization teams to map required grid hosting capacity at Prologis warehouse locations for pipeline of clean energy projects (combination of solar, storage, EV, BE projects). Understand DERs hosting capacity constraints, locational net benefits, and pursue distribution deferral opportunities/pilots for energy utilities with Prologis DER solutions.
  • Support Global head in representing Prologis position in clean energy future with stakeholders involved in utility partnerships including influencing energy procurement policy and grid modernization investments at state and federal regulatory agencies (e.g. CPUC, CEC, CARB, FERC). Participate in grid operators' meetings for market design, policy development and market operations opportunities as related to utility partnership projects.
  • Partner with the Global Head of Utilities, sustainability business solutions and Energy VP to develop the next level of technology platform that may differentiate Prologis in the marketplace.


Tell us if you're ready.

  • Bachelor degree in a quantitative discipline such as engineering, science, technology, economics, statistics or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in quantitative field.
  • 10+ years of work experience with electric utilities or in renewables project development, including demonstrated experience leading utility energy procurement solicitations for renewable and energy storage, or experience leading participation in utility RFOs and development of utility scale solar and storage projects.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of utility and ISO interconnection processes.
  • Expertise in wholesale energy and capacity markets (e.g. CAISO, PJM, ERCOT etc.) and knowledge of resource adequacy processes and filings.
  • Ability to travel nationwide up to 40%


Preferred:

  • MBA or Master's degree in quantitative discipline engineering, science, economics, statistics, etc.
