We are looking for a DEI leader to join our quickly growing team! Reporting to the CHRO and Head, DEI, the success and impact of this individual is directly tied to designing and developing strategic and programmatic initiatives against a three-part framework. 

  1. Employees | Embed a culture of inclusion and belonging; establishing DEI programs to enable employee engagement
  2. Patients | Champion health equity; empowering culturally inclusive care
  3. Community | Impact communities where we work and live; building an approach to corporate social responsibility

Through building successful working relationships with internal leaders and employees, this new leader will collaborate to implement best and next practices in this space. A can-do attitude, hands on approach and high degree of humility are requirements for acculturation into our highly collaborative and entrepreneurial culture.

How you can make a difference:

  • Partnering with cross-functional senior leadership and talent colleagues to identify areas of need and create a best-in-class DEI and CSR journey for VillageMD
  • Implement a DEI narrative for executive leadership that provides a construct for commitment and accountability
  • Lead DEI Governance including the development and launch of an External Advisory Council, Executive Leadership Team Diversity Council, Regional Councils and Business Resource Groups
  • Partner with Workforce Planning & Analytics to create a framework for tracking, reporting and communicating around DEI metrics and progress
  • Partner with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer on Health Equity Initiatives to define, implement and evaluate strategies to achieve equitable access and reduce disparities in clinical care
  • Collaborate with necessary stakeholders to ensure DEI is embedded into all talent processes
  • Partner with VP, Talent Development to develop and embed a wide range of DEI trainings for both managers and staff
  • Drive community engagement to externalize our commitment to DEI and CSR in the communities where we live and work

  • You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and can manage multiple competing priorities while continuing to advance critical initiatives
  • You are self-assured and have a high tolerance for ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • You are metrics-focused with ability and history of using analytics to solve problems and develop solutions
  • A low ego and humility; an ability to gain trust through effective communication and doing what you say you will do

Experience to drive change:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or Organizational Development, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 10 years in a DEI and/or Talent Management role
  • Proven track record of success facilitating enterprise-wide initiatives with multiple stakeholders
  • Understanding of change management and organizational development methodologies
  • Experience translating data and analytics to develop insights to drive the DEI journey
  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural values and norms of various communities including communities of color, LGBTQ+, military, differently abled and particularly underserved communities (urban and rural)
  • Experience developing CSR and/or community focused strategies and initiatives
  • General understanding of the healthcare industry and various teams within the organization
  • Proven relationship management skills including a strong customer service orientation
  • Positive attitude and outlook manifested in a solutions-oriented approach
  • Flexible work style to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines and manage last-minute changes with a strong sense of urgency
  • Prior experience working directly with senior leadership (CTO/CEO/Business Leaders) and presenting at the board level
  • Ability to travel as needed
