VP Corporate Innovation Job Description

Redesign is looking for its first VP Corporate Innovation to join our Enterprise Growth team. This high-impact role will be responsible for setting the strategy and overseeing the execution of corporate innovation partnerships focused on the co-development of new companies and establishing a programmatic approach to driving innovation with and for incumbent healthcare partners.  This role will also build and manage a team to identify, acquire and manage new strategic corporate relationships to leverage the Redesign Platform and establish Redesign Health as the industry leader in healthcare corporate innovation. 

The ideal candidate for this role has experience in healthcare venture building/ideation as well as in the development and execution of innovation agendas within a corporate structure. The candidate should be able to apply these skills to identify and align innovation priorities and capabilities and steward engagement and governance with partners. Additionally, the candidate should be able to assess readiness and feasibility of venture building opportunities and communicate these opportunities to the broader Redesign Platform. We are looking for a high-energy, collaborative leader who is excited to join us on our mission of accelerating innovation in healthcare and Redesigning health for everyone. 

You will report to the Head of Enterprise Growth. The position can be fully remote or at our New York City headquarters.

What you'll do:

Lead the Corporate Innovation Function

  • Develop and implement the long term corporate innovation partnerships strategy working collaboratively in defining strategic priorities and corporate innovation roadmaps 
  • Coordinate closely with Strategic Finance to define equity structures for various corporate innovation structures
  • Uncover insights from research into healthcare corporate innovation and industry experts to map the competitive landscape and current corporate innovation structures / terms 
  • Map the healthcare corporate innovation partner landscape (payers, systems, associations, etc.), understanding their needs, priorities and financing structure
  • Execute ideation sessions and processes with partners to identify opportunity areas for the co-development of new companies 
  • Develop and refine a Corporate Ventures Scorecard to build a tiered prospect model of health system, payer and technology partners for targeted outreach based on Redesign Health’s strategic priorities 
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop corporate innovation collateral, including pitch decks, and supporting corporate innovation materials, case studies and white papers to support thought leadership
  • Recruit and lead a high performing and effective Corporate Innovation team, developing and supporting them to achieve both professional and business objectives
  • Partner with Redesign Corporate Development and Strategy and Finance leadership to develop corporate co-creation formation and governance frameworks.

Executes Corporate Innovation Strategy  

  • Establish, develop and manage corporate innovation partnerships with C-suite executives to identify and agree on areas of strategic importance and focus 
  • Lead scoping projects with corporate partners to identify market opportunities and create new venture concepts; establish clear processes for generating and prioritizing ideas and co-creating new ventures through launch 
  • Collaborate cross – functionally to manage and track multiple partnership workstreams and ensure Redesign is successful in taking its innovations to market with strategic partners in a timely and scalable way 
  • Develop and execute processes for NewCo co-creation with corporate partners and establish aligned engagement models
  • Collaborate with Corporate Development / Strategic Finance on the production of Investment Committee presentations, whitepapers and supporting materials
  • Lead, manage and oversee multiple projects and initiatives, providing guidance to internal and external cross - functional teams and ensuring partner satisfaction
  • Analyze data and make commercially focused decisions based on business key performance indicators
  • Diligence and develop innovative NewCo business models together with corporate partners
  • Collaborate with cross-functional Redesign teams (e.g. Product, Talent, Growth) to build NewCo concepts with corporate partners 

Corporate Innovation Thought Leadership

  • Serve as the internal corporate innovation thought leader for the organization, and apply this knowledge to develop corporate innovation processes and best practices
  • Evangelize corporate innovation internally and externally so Redesign is viewed as innovative, visionary and a market leader by customers, industry groups and medical societies
  • Collaborate with marketing and Corporate Development / Strategic Finance to develop corporate innovation collateral, including case studies and white papers to support innovation thought leadership

What you'll need:

  • Background
    • 10+ years of healthcare venture building or related experience including corporate development, venture capital or consulting experience
    • Expert in corporate innovation frameworks and open innovation
    • Experience using structured ideation processes for new venture diligence
    • MBA preferred
