The Vice President, Corporate Development will play a central role working with leadership across both the Operations and Investment Management sides of the organization on priority strategic initiatives, balance sheet capital management for Amherst, and engagement with Amherst’s Board of Directors. The successful individual will have the ability both to move easily between thinking and operating strategically at a high level and to manage processes and projects in a hands-on way with excellent attention to detail. This role will focus on priority projects to help Amherst deliver on its ambitious growth plans across its debt and equity strategies and its operating businesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with leadership in Investment Management and Real Estate Operations to drive priority cross-functional initiatives and deals within each side of the business and across the firm to timely completion.

  • Projects might include:

  • Launching a new product or vehicle/fund and supporting Amherst balance sheet capital management to coordinate clear and accurate financial reporting

  • Working closely with Research and Technology teams to build out models to support projects, then drive them into production environments

  • Developing a system to track daily operational KPI metrics and tying them to the overall firm financials so that teams clearly understand their goals and the impact of their work

  • Collaborate with leadership on Board and committee communications, including owning the end-to-end process for Board meeting preparation and working with teams across the business to create comprehensive Board decks with a clear and compelling storyline

  • Partner with Investor Relations team to draft, coordinate, and distribute investor and Board memos

  • Develop understanding and build consensus across Real Estate Operations, Investment Management, and Technology of KPIs and metrics that will drive business value.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and MBA required

  • 5-7 years experience in management consulting and/or investment banking

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

  • Balances and prioritizes multiple projects, delivering results to tight deadlines

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with creativity and clarity in communicating complex concepts visually and in writing

  • Analytically very comfortable, with strong attention to detail

  • Highly self-motivated and results-oriented

  • Motivates and aligns teams around common objectives, managing workflows to tight timelines

  • Builds strong relationships across departments and at all levels of the company
