Description:
The Value Team Portfolio Lead drives the investment process for a portfolio of investments based on a clear understanding of prioritization, cost, risk, inter-dependencies and value. Includes the utilization of a consistent investment management framework in support of enterprise and business strategies. Under the direction of the Research and Development (R&D) IT Portfolio Lead, the Value Team Portfolio Lead will be the single point of accountability for all investment related activities in support of the Value Team and the business cases executing within.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Single point of accountability for all Investment-related activities in support of the Value Team.
- Play a leadership role in investment planning, which includes partnering with the Product Line leads and Value Team leads to establish business cases and continually prioritize demand against financial constraints.
- Provide direction and oversight of all phases of the investment process to drive, manage and optimize R&D IT portfolio investments.
- Implement Value Framework; lead team in defining and tracking commitments (KPIs & Benefits) to measure progress against outcomes and inform investment decisions.
- Partner with Value Teams to validate and prioritize new portfolio demand while instilling a culture of sharing and reuse.
- Provide strong financial stewardship of all investment funding, which includes ensuring the collective project budgets do not exceed the portfolio's budget allocation.
- Actively participate in the assignment of PM resources to align PM skills/experience with needs.
- Forge strong relationships that lead to being a trusted partner to the R&D IT leaders and their teams, business partners, and IT colleagues supporting the R&D IT programs.
- Ensure consistent reporting in all systems and forums to support decision making. Drive adoption of portfolio and financial tools and processes.
- Responsible for Value Team-level governance, operational reviews and reporting (overall health (status, milestones, risks/ issues), resource consumption, financials, etc.) for Value Team members and Senior Leaders.
- Create content and communications for Senior Leaders that articulates value drivers, progress on value, key decisions and impacts.
Education Minimum:
- B.A./B.S. in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
Prerequisites:
- 5 + years of demonstrated IT project delivery experience with relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong quantitative skills and the ability to use data and metrics to inform investment decisions. Curiosity to discover drivers behind trends.
- Ability to lead the development of critical path analyses to support scenario planning to inform prioritization.
- Strong communicator able to integrate and succinctly summarize and tailor messages to different audiences, including Senior Leaders.
- Broad range of leadership skills including ability to influence without authority.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment.
- Ability to advocate for our users by creating solutions which make it easy for our Company's Research Laboratory colleagues to accomplish their important work.
- Self-motivated, value-oriented with a mindset of continuous learning.
