The Trailering Experience Feature Lead will be a technical leader for requirements and design development for a set of functions related to the trailering user experience. The candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation of the said features. They will support developing the strategy and execution of the trailering capabilities in the infotainment domain as it combines with other domains to deliver solutions related to trailering. They must comprehend the interfaces and interactions between in-vehicle systems, consumer devices, GM back office and other cloud service environments, at a minimum. They will work with various cross-functional teams to drive and meet the program milestones. They will be the single point contact for the execution of the set of features from inception to launch. The utilization of 'systems level thinking' will be key in this role.
- Lead Cross-Functional, end to end Feature Development Teams (addressing device, all vehicle and back-office systems as necessary for a given feature)
- Work with Feature Owner counterpart in the Global System Engineering org in development and maintenance of the trailering strategy and roadmap
- Work with the business team, program teams, and other technical teams to develop and scope new product offerings, ensuring a strategic approach is in place
- Work with trailering industry to foster and fully capitalize on our relationships with our partners in the RV and Trailering industry
- Provide regular and key updates to leadership and team leaders to ensure synchronization and smooth flow of information
- Lead other system engineers by providing direction in all aspects of systems development such as requirements definition, analysis, and development
- Continuously work towards improving efficiency within the group by improving processes, quality and mentoring the team members
- Support issue resolution as needed from validation, service teams, CTF reports, feature checkout events, buy off rides
- Support PI Planning sessions and development team activities as a stakeholder in representing trailering features targeted for the PI from various ARTs
Additional Description
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree
- Minimum of 5 years of automotive engineering experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of communications, connected vehicle services and infotainment/telematics systems engineering & related communication protocols
- Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle electrical architectures, body control or other integration control modules & in-vehicle networking protocols such as Ethernet and CAN
- Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and practices
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communications (oral & written) skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- 7 years of automotive system engineering experience
- Experience with embedded automotive modules
- Electrical systems experience preferred in following domains: infotainment/telematics, chassis, powertrain and body interior & exterior (lighting)
- Experienced driving with trailers
- Experience with features that have included HMI/User experience requirements
- Experience using requirements management applications such as Rational DOORS
Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-4 x per year.
