The Opportunity

 

Act as a trusted and influential advisor to MassMutual’s Enterprise Technology & Experience (ETX) group with a strong focus on cyber resiliency and technology management practices for core business units.

 

As a technology and risk consultant, you will have the opportunity to mature the risk program and partner with technology, business and risk peers to enhance the strategy, framework, and processes, as well as advance the engagement model across the groups. You will enable company leaders to better understand technology related risks through data driven and quantifiable insights that enable stronger business decisions.  

This role will execute and mature ERM’s Cyber Risk Framework which includes obtaining assurance of MassMutual’s cyber security program health and effectiveness as well as collaborating with cyber security programs across the Enterprise to ensure cyber resiliency measures are in place, including inherent and residual risk measured against a defined risk appetite and thresholds.  Additionally, the role is responsible for partnering with other functions in ERM to continue to integrate Cyber/ETX risks into the broader Enterprise risk appetite framework and top risk process.  The candidate will form influential relationships with technology and business leaders to mature the strategy, framework, and process jointly with ETX, business and control peers.

 

The Team

Technology Risk team is:

  • Lean, agile team comprised of senior risk professionals with backgrounds in technology risk management
  • Highly collaborative team with the opportunity and expectation to broaden skillset and experience across all categories of Enterprise and Technology risk
  • Focused on continuous improvement of framework, approach, relationships and output
  • Sought after by stakeholders to provide counsel and expertise on mitigation strategies and strategic risk considerations

 

The Impact:

  • Participate in various forums on risk assessment, quantification, risk appetite setting and risk acceptance
  • Drive adoption of the risk framework 
  • Effectively communicate independent evaluation of IT risk posture
  • Mature visualization and content for reports, dashboard and monthly risk opinion
  • Present the risk appetite dashboard, risk opinion and relevant metrics at the appropriate committees, articulate and defend the measures
  • Drive and escalate as necessary when risk limits are breached or risk posture deteriorates
  • Review and challenge risk reduction estimates provided by 1st LOD, residual risk scores, or risk criticality
  • Review and appropriately challenge technology risk decisions, direction, and initiatives under taken by the 1st LOD, IT or business, providing an independent voice to the risk management process
  • Serve as liaison with other Control/Risk disciplines
  • Serve as a trusted advisor in technology risk, controls, and cyber security best practices

 

The Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant operational/technology risk related work experience
  • Experience leading and driving solutions involving multiple layers of management
  • Deals with ambiguity and complexity; willingness to explore multiple solutions to a problem
  • Understanding of implications of technology risks and mitigations
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal, comfort with presenting to all levels of the organization
  • Strong matrix management skills.  Ability to manage multiple projects across the enterprise
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
