Department OverviewThe Motorola Solutions CMSO Technical Training team improves MSI customer support experiences by enabling employees to learn and execute their roles within CMSO. We enable employee success by determining training needs, working closely with team leaders and subject matter experts to develop and maintain curriculum, and leveraging global delivery mechanisms.
Job Description
As a Technical Training Specialist, you will work closely with our business performance, customer care, technical triage, and technical support teams to evaluate training needs, develop training plans, curate curriculum, and deliver training. The Technical Training Specialist is responsible for coordinating and conducting CMSO training programs.
The ideal candidate has experience with various training methods, including on-the-job coaching, mentorship programs, and e-learning. Experience with different projects, like technical product training and soft-skills development, is also essential.
You should also be familiar with the instructors, equipment, and educational material requirements for each project.
Responsibilities of the Technical Training Specialist:
Manage, design, develop, coordinate, and conduct training programs for service desk and technical support teams.
Select appropriate training methods and activities (e.g., virtual classes, simulations, mentorships, on-the-job training, professional development classes)
Market available training opportunities to employees while providing necessary information
Conduct organization-wide training needs assessment to identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
Use known education principles and stay up-to-date on new training methods and techniques
Design, prepare and order educational aids and materials
Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills and KPIs
Gather feedback from trainers and trainees after each educational session
Partner with internal stakeholders and liaise with experts regarding instructional design
Maintain updated curriculum database and training records
Must be willing to work non-standard hours and travel
Job Qualifications
Experience with various training methods, including virtual, on-the-job coaching, e-learning, and classroom instruction.
Familiarity with various training tools
Knowledge of hardware and software
Proven work experience as a Training Coordinator, Trainer, Training Facilitator, or similar role
Hands-on experience coordinating multiple training events in a corporate setting
Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation
Adequate knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools
Proven ability to complete entire training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate)
Familiarity with traditional and modern job training methods and techniques
Experience with e-learning platforms
Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments
Strong communication skills
BS degree in Education, Training, HR or related field
Preferred - Bachelor of Arts in Education, Training, or related field
Preferred - experience with technical support, engineering, or software development
Basic Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
3+ years of experience serving in a training role
