About the Role
UBER is changing the way people and things move in cities. In support of our rapid growth, IT Eng is looking for a PMO Manager that will lead all aspects of exciting initiatives that consist of outstanding and exciting challenges across our applications portfolio. We operate in a dynamic space that requires a highly organized, flexible, high energy, individual who will be responsible for the success of numerous projects as well as the evolution of our PMO applications service.
The right person will thrive in a fast paced, "all hands on deck" environment, and can move quickly as a builder and do'er in a culture that supports resourcefulness, empowerment, and ownership. They will advocate and bring process and discipline in a fast paced environment.
What you will do:
Portfolio Management. Evolve and lead a portfolio of project and program management services (project analysis, project execution, project delivery) that increases the overall value and efficiency across the Application services.• Team Leadership. Lead, run, and mentor a group of Technical Program Managers while evolving a standard that will thrive in our fast paced environment.• Business / Customer Focused. Drive efforts based on business benefit and overall value. Programs/projects business case work-up and analyses.• Master Planner. Partner with the execution teams to build project/work plans across multiple dependencies while negotiating resourcing with various managers.• Prioritization. Work with the Director of Applications to prioritize work both internal and external to the projects.• Resource Management. Work with the Director of Applications to define and track the resource requirements across the different technical and non-technical initiatives.• Taskmaster. Continuous tracking and follow up on the never ending funnel of different efforts and tasks.• Vendor Management. Engage and lead all aspects of vendors and contract resources that are required for the different efforts.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5+ years' experience in leading, managing, and/or building an IT focused PMO.• Deep expertise with program and project management tools• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and outstanding emotional intelligence. Ability to influence and empower people across a broad variety of job functions through your relationships.• Strong interpersonal skills to balance many tasks without losing sight of the highest priority items.• Ability to understand sophisticated concepts and make reasoned decisions objectively.• Risk Management: you're a specialist at identifying risks proactively, and mitigating them before they become blockers• Customer compassion - You deeply understand and care about the user experience• Communication - You effectively engage internal and external customers• Process - You understand and catalyze a focused agile development process• Prioritization - You optimally prioritize to work on the highest-impact initiatives
Bonus Qualifications:
• 7+ years' leading, managing, and/or building an IT Application focused PMO.• Deep expertise using Jira and/or Service Now to own a portfolio.• Experienced within a corporate IT environment.
