Description

Position Summary:

The Technical Accessioning & Operations Specialist is responsible for overseeing all Instruments, Instrument training, Troubleshooting Instrument issues, and Workflow. Coordination with outside vendors of instrument installations, relocations, and qualifications are to be performed. The Technical Accessioning & Operations Specialist troubleshoots any problems with workflow, as it relates to instrument needs.

In addition, they are expected to work closely with IT to ensure streamline performance of instruments and perform any UAT as it relates to current or new processes within Carismatic. The Technical Accessioning & Operations Specialist assists the Technical Manager as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Follows the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable level of performance.
  • Documents all corrective action taken when a system deviates from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
  • Documents the tracking, accumulation, and computation of equipment issues.
  • Ensures lab has adequate inventories of reagents and supplies.
  • Acts as first point of contact on all instrument questions. Keeps team informed of new processes and general updates.
  • Responsible for trouble-shooting instrument related issues and informing the team of any that are out of use.
  • Communicates effectively to the team, and outside vendors any problems or issues the instrument is having.
  • Coordinates movement and any relevant performance calibrations for all instruments.
  • Coordinates and prepares any slides or documents sent off site to Iron Mountain.
  • Works with Caris IT to perform UAT as it relates to various lab instruments and DCR updates.
  • Actively engages leadership for instruction and growth.
  • Consistently exhibits a professional demeanor in the workplace and works to maintain positive relationships with peers and management.
  • Logs appropriate information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other logs as necessary.
  • Assists as needed to perform other related duties and special projects to support the laboratory as required.

    • Ventana/Roche HE600 H&E Stainers
    • Sakura Tissue-Tek Prisma Stainers
    • ThermoFisher SlideMate AS
    • Slide Delivery Systems
    • Philips Ultra-Fast Scanners
    • Leica Aperio GT450 Scanner


Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Conditions of Employment: Individual must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening and reference verification. Also, individual must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by the date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based jobs, if not currently employed by Caris Life Sciences.

Physical Demands:

  • Will work at a computer some of the time as well as need to keep inventory and ordering records requiring the use of copiers, fax machines, and PDF scanners.
  • Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail. Ability to pass a visual color discrimination test.
  • Manual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterile techniques as required.
  • Must possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • May have exposure to high noise levels in the data center, fumes and bio-hazardous material in the lab environment. Exposure to formaldehyde, xylene, DAB and alcohol which emit fumes. The formaldehyde, xylene, and DAB are carcinogenic.
  • May be required to handle blood-borne pathogens and general laboratory reagents.
  • May have exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes and biohazardous material/chemicals including formalin in the lab environment.


Training:

  • All job specific, safety, and compliance training are assigned based on the job functions associated with this employee.


Other:

  • This position requires periodic travel and some evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
