Oversees the accurate and timely writing of copy by a team of copywriters, ensuring all deadlines are met and workflow is distributed appropriately throughout the team. Supports Copy Manager in leading copy development and storytelling for all marketing content.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT

• Leads copy development for content and production projects
• Concepts with art directors/designers and writes copy for high-level projects and initiatives
• Ensures Kohl's brand voice and standards are maintained
• Interprets strategy and helps the team deliver on business objectives and priorities
• Partners with the concept team and legal to ensure alignment
• Maintains grammatical and stylistic accuracy

SUPERVISES COPY TEAM

• Develops staff's functional skills by managing day-to-day work assignments and by providing coaching, performance feedback and daily support
• Evaluates team's workload daily and makes adjustments as needed
• Manages scheduling, including out of office/sick day coverage and meeting prioritization
• Helps review work at established milestones to ensure it's on-brand and on-strategy
• Supports and represents copy manager, as needed

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

• Updates files and copy to reflect changes on creative requests
• Knows the status of projects and ensures deadlines are met
• Communicates with partners to keep work moving and help remove roadblocks
• Works with team and partners to align on creative direction and any necessary schedule and/or strategy shifts, while ensuring all milestones are met and creative/legal approvals are secured
• Works with internal clients, copy editors, art directors, designers and other partners to incorporate changes and ensure copy is up to date and accurate

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field
• 5+ years of experience writing copy for various channels
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and maintain strict deadlines
• Strong ideation, communication and organizational skills
• Experience in concepting and storytelling

PREFERRED

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
• Demonstrated leadership qualities
• Experience managing a team
