Job Summary:
Is the future of Space Innovative Development a grand challenge problem that you wake up every day looking to take on? Do you operate in the world of technology innovation, concept development, system-of-systems engineering, architecting, development planning, trade space analysis, end-to-end digital Engineering, and new capability delivery? The Technology Innovation team is looking for a new and motivated Director to help the United States Space Force (USSF) Space and Missile Systems Center's Portfolio Architect execute its role as the USSF future innovator and developer.
What You’ll be Doing:
Collaborate with the Space and System’s Center Portfolio Architect and the Chief Scientist in investigating new imaginative and innovate ways to create exceptional space capabilities for the Department of Defense
Identify and evaluate new and future technology opportunities for their potential to accelerate new capabilities to our warfighting customers
Lead diverse teams identifying, creating, studying, and refining new concepts, systems-of-systems, Family-of-systems, and architectures in the context of enabling an integrated, resilient, and agile space enterprise
Inform and influence senior personnel on high impact decisions for the future USSF space architecture including personnel from the US Space Force, other agencies, industry partners, and US allies
Develop strong working relationships with a distributed S&T community and facilitate national synergy for Space S&T
Facilitate the transition of new technologies from ideas and prototypes to operational capabilities
Manage a team of direct reports and Engineering Technology Group subject matter experts providing technical advice, overseeing internal Aerospace prototype development, and supporting the Portfolio Architect Space Enterprise Architecture Baseline Reviews (ABR) engaging multiple organizations across DoD and other agencies
What You Need to be Successful:
Minimum Requirements:
BS degree or better in science, math, engineering, or relevant discipline from an accredited program
12+ years of relevant progressive work experience in engineering, science and technology (S&T)
Ability to influence outcomes with both verbal and written communications using objective facts, analysis, modeling & simulation results, and testing results
Experience in distilling complex materials and concepts into clear, concise summaries and recommendations
Background in guiding science and technology teams through increasingly complex concept development and technology transition to operational capability or commercial product lines
Willing to travel domestically approximately 10% and potentially internationally
Current Secret clearance with eligibility for Top-Secret clearance and SCI access
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
Masters or PhD from an accredited program in science, math, engineering, or relevant discipline
10 + years of experience with space systems, space ground systems, or space science and technology
Experience with systems architecting or systems-of-systems engineering
In-depth knowledge of DoD or Intelligence Community current and/or future space architectures
Current Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI access
