Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The System Director of Public Policy assumes a leadership role directing select policy issues at the state and federal levels. The System Director works with legislatures and regulatory agencies to develop health and social policy that elevates and supports CommonSpirit Health's mission and maintaining access to care, especially the most vulnerable. The Director manages a portfolio of issues that impact hospital operations and implements desired advocacy strategies. The director must balance an array of high visibility responsibilities under continuous time and performance pressures.

Core Duties:

 

 

  • Identify, track and develop advocacy strategies on state and federal legislative measures, including engaging internal subject matter experts.
  • Collaborate with state and federal trade associations to share operational impacts and influence policy positions and strategies.
  • Develop policy positions and legislative and regulatory comments on selected priority issues.
  • Collaborate with CommonSpirit Health team members and corporate leaders to pursue a consistent and unified advocacy agenda.
  • Represent CommonSpirit Health in legislative and regulatory arenas at the state and federal levels, including submitting comment letters on issues important to the Mission.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with government officials, state and national health association executives.
  • Produce clear, concise issue briefs in oral and written formats in a variety of timeframes ranging from immediately through several weeks.
  • Implement system efforts in broad education and awareness around public policy issues providing resources to internal and external audiences.
  • Participate on committees, boards and with associations on behalf of CommonSpirit Health.
  • Anticipate and discover emerging issues within Dignity Health, the health care field and in legislative and regulatory arenas.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

 

 

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of policy experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in hospital, health care or business administration or related field preferred.

 

A compensation range of $100,000 - $140,000 is the reasonable estimate that CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
