Job Description:
ECS is looking for a System Administrator III providing support for Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM!
As a System Administrator III you will be working with the Mission Computing Services (MCS) team. The Mission Computing Services (MCS) provides IT resources to mission organizations at the Laboratories, one being the Server System Administrator. The Subcontractor shall provide Server System Administrator support and assist customers with server needs, including architecture design and consultations, building, configuring maintaining and troubleshooting physical and virtual servers.
DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITES/TASKS INCLUDE:
Provide IT support to Group Server Team. For all work areas requested, individuals are required to have and maintain a DOE Q clearance. All resources shall perform work requests for tasks assigned by the service manager, team manager/lead or team coordinator, within the work areas requested. All assignments are to be performed within the bounds of MCS customer agreements and service hours. All work assignments shall be accounted for by appropriate project/task time charging reporting structures. Continuous adherence to Sandia National Labs (SNL) Cyber policies for technical work is required for all services. Continuous adherence to SNL Security and Safety directives is required. General and specific tasks noted in the task sections, as assigned by the Customer Team Manager/Lead or Service Manager, are required. Overarching Requirements: Due to the nature of work requested, location and work hours are established to provide continuity of services when customer program teams typically require assistance and may be adjusted to meet customer priorities. All work hours established require SNL concurrence to meet various customer program commitments. Planned time away requires communication to and concurrence with the SNL to maintain continuity of services. Work requests shall be received by in-person contact, phone/email/IM requests, and ticket receipts. All work performed shall be documented in tickets, project tracking tools, or reported in team status meetings. All system documentation shall be maintained per SNL and team standards. All systems shall be monitored and maintained per SNL and team documented standards. Other assignments and tasks may be assigned, as needed. Select Services Assignments: Select customer program assignments may require additional security requirements. Select customer program assignments requires knowledge, exposure, and compliance to SNL Cyber standards. Occasional travel is required for select assignments. On-call may be required for select assignments as business needs change and shall be charged in accordance with the provisions. Remote work may be allowed for select assignments, with concurrence from the SNL.
Tasks include:

  • Linux physical and virtual server management
  • Linux administration - upgrades, patching and security compliance requirements
  • Linux troubleshooting - setup, account management, file service, network configuration, license management, application hosting and end-user application support
  • Automation and scripting (Bash, python) of administration tasks

Required Skills:

  • BS/BA and 6 years of related experience
  • Active Q clearance
  • Linux physical and virtual server management
  • Linux administration - upgrades, patching and security compliance requirements
  • Linux troubleshooting - setup, account management, file service, network configuration, license management, application hosting and end-user application support
  • Experience with Ansible, authentication, docker and containers
  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors
  • Classified support STIG familiarity or experience
