Supply Chain Manager - Location: Monterrey, Mexico
Summary
The Supply Chain Manager manages and processes quality demands from SMS group, Supply Chain department. The Manager investigates, develops and reports about Mexico based suppliers for metallurgical plant and rolling mill equipment and components. Their duties mainly relate to the Center of Excellence products of SMS group: Metallurgical Plants, Forging Technology, Long Products, Process Lines, Furnace Technologies and Flat Products.
The ideal staffing for this important start-up position will be an experienced and highly motivated candidate with a significant and provable work experience in quality assurance functions of technical equipment's. The candidate should hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or have a strong practical background.

What you'll do
- Support of the search for new suppliers
- Pre-Assessment of new suppliers to ensure that they are able to meet our requirements for performance, quality, cost and delivery of components / equipment as per SMS manufacturing standard
- Organizing supplier evaluations & its approval processes
- Qualifying new suppliers to ensure that they are competitive in price and delivery times
- Setting up and maintenance of a supplier database and supplier evaluation system (CSMT system)
- Planning and controlling of delivery- and quality assuring measures in coordination with the Project Management Team
- Coordinate Inspection activities of 3rd Party Inspection Teams
- Coordinate QA activities for all SMS Entities
- Carry out Inspections
- Trouble shooting all quality related supplier problems and updating for remedial action
- Reporting on relevant supplier qualification subjects to SC headquarters in Europe and Region Americas
- Active participation and communication within the global SMS group Supply Chain network
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Prospectively develop a small supplier qualification team with QA experts, project oriented
What you'll need
- Degree (Bachelor, Master) in mechanical engineering and / or with strong practical background and supplier qualification experience in plant and machine building
- Significant and provable work experience (min 5-10 years) in QA functions of technical equipment and components would be an asset
- Relevant experience in the area of plant construction and mechanical engineering
- Experience in dealing with customers and suppliers
- Knowledge of country and industry specific supplier structures
- Understanding manufacturing processes
- Independent and methodical approach to work
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to travel within North and Central America and to Europe
- Creativity and innovative ability
- Proactively contribute to the team
- Moral courage, openness and honesty in all dealings
- Excellent command of Spanish and English, both verbal and written
- Willingness to learn new technologies and to develop new skills as required
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Required to understand engineering drawings and bill of materials for the purpose of manufacturing supervision and physical inspection in the workshop
- Sound knowledge and experience in MS Office
- Experience with SAP/ERP system is preferred
