Location: This position can be hybrid (based in Saint Louis Park, MN) or remote. Hybrid is preferred.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
The Director of Strategy will support the long-term strategy development by providing strategic thought leadership and project management on a broad range of critical topics. The Director will work collaboratively with colleagues across Segments and Enterprise, helping articulate the areas of focus, as well as designing bespoke strategies that enable success. The Strategy Director must have an ability to develop frameworks and solve problems across a variety of areas, each of which will have a significant impact on the long-term success of nVent.
IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL GET TO:
- Own and lead competitive analysis, drawing insights and implications
- Assess competitive dynamics, lead scenario planning and competitive benchmarking exercises to develop competitive strategies and competitive intelligence for the company
- Identify, define, and articulate industry, sector and emerging trends and how they may affect nVent's businesses
- Support the analysis of industry and competitive dynamics as part of M&A diligences
- Ensures alignment on industry and sector intelligence across nVent's businesses
- Own all financial and quantitative analyses that will yield critical answers to the questions at hand. Understand the required data sets to complete the analyses and procure them accordingly
- Lead 'special projects' that advance key strategic priorities and evaluate white space opportunities for possible expansion leveraging project management, analytical and decision support skills
- Help develop strategic rationale and quantify organic and inorganic investment requirements
- Support the annual strategic planning process and specific deep dive topics, including long range planning, strategic planning, and strategy reviews with the Board of Directors
- Lead/Support Critical Communication Development & Business Reporting effectively, both verbally and on paper, at the most senior levels of the organization by development of major presentations for senior executives
YOU HAVE:
- Master's Degree in Business Administration
- 10+ years of professional experience, including broad-based experience in strategy and industry/financial analysis within a Corporate or Consulting setting; 5+ years' experience at a top- tier management consulting firm preferred
- Strong time management skills; ability to prioritize and balance work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Bring the ability to build consensus, simplify the complex and develop clear communication and presentation materials to a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated experience leading both junior and senior-level cross-functional teams through influence and thought leadership
- Be comfortable acting as an individual contributor and as a team manager (Player/Coach)
- Understand how to deliver on short time frames and be committed to meeting deadlines
- Communicate in an open and honest way that quickly builds trust and respect
- Possess an entrepreneurial spirit, Combination of out of the box thinking and ability to question the status quo and generally accepted beliefs. Comfort with ambiguity and change
