A role with Target Visual means an opportunity to shape how our guests experience presentations inside our stores. You'll drive the success of both forward-thinking projects, and best practices, that have a global impact on Visual activities. Bring your exceptional skills to design presentations with purpose, that are relevant, inspiring, and connected, to delight the guest and drive growth. Here, you'll balance art and science as you oversee the curation of presentations throughout the store.
As a Sr Visual Merchandising Manager, you will lead the Visual Strategy for all cycles with inputs from business on priorities and product stories. Your Visual Strategy will include styling priorities, all version considerations including small format, operational and budget considerations and rationalize scalability for the team to activate upon. You will also lead division innovation that will consider guest insights, measurement data, trend analysis and business prioritization. You will be distinctive in business acumen, accountability, scope, team development and ability to contribute with autonomy. You will have key inputs into annual plan, brainstorming and collaboration sessions and apply trend insight to exploratory and conceptual bodies of work ensuring clarity within strategic expectations of presentation while measuring output against intent and defining at concept phase.
You will play a key role in the d ivision roundtable as you influence division strategy, grounded in insights and design principles of presentation. You will play a key role to influence merchant divisional leaders on the product stories and buys grounded in data and the ability to tell clear and clean stories across the floor. You will lead the translation of business strategy to visual presentations across cyclical work, new product launches, and high profile brands in a way that shapes and influences guest behavior in the store. You will drive and influence teams across Merchandising, Planning, and Design to execute visual concepts and merchant initiatives. You will collaborate with presentation stakeholders (Space Presentation and Transitions, Store Experience Marketing, Store Ops) to develop holistic storytelling and enable seamless application. You will innovate on solutions for both creative execution and operational efficiencies of Visual Merchandising Team, continually seek insights into cultural business changes to ensure Visual Merchandising evolves and stays relevant with changing trends and ensure visual merchandising guidelines are consistently maintained and published.
You will manage workload focuses for direct reports to support business needs and development through Personal Development Plans supporting growth and career pathing. You will foster team dynamic through collective and individual investment (technical, transferrable, and expandable skills) developing a talent pipeline that steward's representation and readiness within network. You will reinforce priorities and participate in cultural initiatives for personal development, while promoting team behavioral growth. The exciting part of retail? It's always changing! About you:

  • 5-7 years of Visual experience.
  • 3 or more years of corporate headquarters experience with in-store retail knowledge.
  • Cultural awareness, competitive analysis, and knowledge/understanding of current trends.
  • Experience leading people with ability to network and recruit diverse talent based on representation of Target guest.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and manage relationships with team and key business partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred: Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, and Smartsheet.
  • Preferred: 4-year college degree in Visual Merchandising, Art, Design, or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
