About the Role

As Uber grows to become a "Go Anywhere, Get Anything" service, the Verticals Growth team focuses on launching new services such as Premium Offerings (Hourly Reservation), Low Cost (Pool, Uber Bus), and New Verticals (Bikes & Scooters; Package Delivery). We need a seasoned PM to deeply understand all of these new use cases as well as the Marketplace balance and request funnel of the core uberX business in order to build personalized experiences to surface products and services to Consumers in the best way possible.

The flagship product you'll start to own is the ranking and recommendations of the Product Selector, the screen Consumers see immediately after filling out the "Where To?" search bar. For example, you'll tackle problem questions like, if a rider is a daily commuter, does it make sense to surface Uber Bus? If a rider is requesting a short trip, should we recommend a BIke or Scooter? If uberX surge is high, should we recommend a rider takes Uber Pool? After nailing these fundamentals, within the following months, you'll work closely across Verticals Growth and core Rider Consumer team to take our Personalization models to all surfaces such as the Home Screen, Push Notifications, and Banners.

If you're excited about how algorithms, machine learning, and economic fundamentals can be used to build delightful consumer experiences; and are excited about the prospects of coordinating new product launches across many teams at Uber, then you'll fit right in.

What the Candidate Will Do:

  • Work with engineers, designers, and data scientists to define success of how we personalize Consumer Experiences
  • Own a product roadmap and lead vision, definition, and execution for building Uber's product selector
  • Take broad, conceptual requirements & work closely with engineering to make them a reality
  • Own cross functional syncs with teams on Ops, Verticals, and Rider Experience to ensure products are adopted and well understood by Consumers
  • Thrive in an environment of fast feedback loops and an attitude of rapid iterations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of product management experience
  • A track record of partnering with engineering and data science to build complex, data-driven systems that deliver compelling customer value

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A passion to apply technology and data to change how people move
  • Experience working on consumer-facing technology
  • Academic background or equivalent work experience in computer science, data science, statistics, machine learning, economics, or engineering
