Sr Privacy Specialist - International
Responsibilities
Principal is searching for a Sr. Privacy Specialist to join the Enterprise Privacy Office in support of our international businesses. You'll be part of a growing enterprise privacy team working together to ensure we earn and retain the trust of our customers and employees every day.
In this position, you'll work closely with business partners in Principal offices around the world to maintain privacy compliance and respond to new international privacy obligations as they arise.
Consulting
- Provide subject matter expertise and support for business projects having an implication or a direct impact of international privacy regulations or requirements.
- Initiate, facilitate, and promote collaboration between the Enterprise Privacy Office and international Principal offices.
Risk evaluation and monitoring
- Review new processing activities, assisting local privacy resources and Data Protection Officers in the completion of privacy risk assessments and DPIAs.
- Provide timely end-to-end guidance to ensure that data protection concepts are appropriately integrated into all processing activities.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of third-party relationships, ensuring privacy concerns, requirements, and responsibilities are addressed.
- Escalate issues, including resource needs, to the Chief Privacy Officer and/or senior business management, as needed.
Privacy incident/complaints management
- Manage the receipt, documentation, and tracking of complaints and incidents concerning international data privacy. Coordinate and collaborate with senior leaders, Chief Privacy Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, legal counsel, and others, as appropriate.
Policy/Procedure compliance
- Assist the Enterprise Privacy Office in maintaining the privacy governance structure across international teams.
- Create and administer privacy policy and procedure trainings across the enterprise, measuring the effectiveness of training provided.
Industry knowledge and trends
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable international privacy and security regulations, cross border data transfer issues, and common enforcement findings or trending concerns.
- Partner with and act as liaison to enterprise and local Information Security & Risk groups to stay abreast of system-related information security plans and ensure alignment between security and privacy practices.
- Maintain privacy certifications through continuing education.
Perform other job-related duties or special projects, as required.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone with:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 8 - 10 years of relevant experience in privacy, risk and/or compliance
- Experience working with people at all levels, including outside consultants and vendors, and be able to influence others without formal authority
- Skills to build and maintain relationships and facilitate collaboration and communication
- Ability to execute effectively in a matrix management environment
- Excellent time management, project management, integration, facilitation, planning, decision making, problem solving, and written and verbal communication skills
- IAPP Privacy Certification and experience working with international stakeholders across different time zones strongly preferred

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Minimum Salary
USD $87,550.00/Yr.
Maximum Salary
USD $172,800.00/Yr.
