Job Summary
Do you want a meaningful job supporting space systems and space launch? At the Aerospace Corporation, you will have opportunity to learn about large-scale High Performance Computing Linux systems used to perform scientific and engineering analysis and simulation for space systems and space launch. You will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in Linux, programming, and security using advanced tools to manage on-premise and cloud systems. This job is primarily during regular business hours, has very minimal off-business hours support requirements, and a flexible work schedule.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Our primary customers are rocket scientists, space scientists, and engineers. You get to work with intelligent users who will value your Linux expertise.
- We run the infrastructure that they use to run simulations and analysis, including several classified and unclassified large-scale High Performance Computing computation clusters on-premise, and large-scale simulations in the cloud.
- The primary functions of the role are to support our users; and to deploy, manage, and secure Linux systems that support the primary mission of The Aerospace Company, performing analysis in support of national space systems.
- You will integrate Linux systems with corporate services (Active Directory, storage, backup, logging, auditing, monitoring, etc.)

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements Level III:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
- Typically, 5 years of Linux system administration experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or CentOS Linux systems administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security hardening for classified and unclassified enterprise environments.
- Experience configuring and managing access to NFS file system shares and Active Directory integration with RHEL/CentOS.
- Command line interface and shell scripting to automate tasks
- Experience provisioning and tuning enterprise Linux systems and VMWare based VMs
- This position requires a current Top Secret security clearance, with ability to obtain TS/SCI with CI polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
Minimum Requirements Level IV:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
- Typically, 8 years of Linux system administration experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or CentOS Linux systems administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and security hardening for classified and unclassified enterprise environments.
- Experience configuring and managing access to NFS file system shares and Active Directory integration with RHEL/CentOS.
- Automate repetitive tasks with scripting
- Experience provisioning and tuning enterprise Linux systems and VMWare based VMs

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Current TS/SCI with SSBI and CI polygraph
- Security+ CE certification
- Experience with automated provisioning tools (for example: TerraForm, Stacki, Cobbler)
- Programming skills implementing infrastructure-as-code and automating repetitive tasks with scripting and/or DevOps tools (for example: Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Bash, Ruby, Python, AWK, or Perl)
- Experience building and deploying Docker containers
- Experience deploying applications in Kubernetes
- Experience with Agile and Scrum
