Job Description
Lead and manage the team responsible for Motorola Solutions’ inventory and product obsolescence management. Develop inventory strategies that optimize Motorola Solutions ability to meet cost, cash, revenue and customer goals. Provide leadership to the Inventory and Obsolescence Management team through performance management, coaching and rewards planning. Collaborate across multiple Supply Chain, Procurement and Finance functions to ensure alignment to financial and customer goals. Responsible for hiring, managing, training, developing and evaluating a team of ~15 direct and next level staff. Manage departmental budget. Develop a comprehensive supply plan to be used for inventory freight and spend forecasts. Prepare presentations for senior leaders to communicate strategies, outlooks and risks for inventory, obsolescence and continuity of supply.
The Inventory and Obsolescence team is based in Chicago, IL and Penang, Malaysia and is responsible for:
Forecast inventory dollars and turnover results globally for Motorola Solutions, including raw material, WIP and finished goods inventory in regional DCs (Malaysia, China, Germany, US), manufacturing (US), at MSI's EMS partners and in the system integration center.
Create and drive actions to optimize inventory balances to meet revenue, cost, cash and customer goals.
Create and drive actions to minimize obsolescence while ensuring continuity of supply.
Work with other functions in MSI to manage the variables that drive inventory and excess & obsolescence performance.
Establish and maintain safety stock policies for all sites.
Perform analysis of excess material and make recommendations for reserves.
Identify and take actions to mitigate excess inventory to minimize obsolescence cost.
Disposition reserved excess & obsolete inventory through sales, salvage or scrap.
Evaluate component cancelation notifications and coordinate last-time-buys and bridge buys to ensure continuity of supply while minimizing excess.
Monitor end of life component inventory to ensure continuity of supply until product cancellation.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree (in Supply Chain Management preferred)
MBA preferred
10+ years experience in Supply Chain
Experience as a leader and manager of people
Extensive knowledge of ERP is a must
Six Sigma, Lean or APICS certifications are a plus
Some international travel will likely be required
